This novel, the first in the *A Time Odyssey* trilogy, was penned by two of my all-time favorite science fiction authors, a mere four years before Arthur C. Clarke's passing. I'm betting Clarke conceived the core concepts that serve as the foundation, while Baxter fleshed out the plot details. That's the vibe I got while reading it; it definitely felt like a Stephen Baxter novel. In *Time's Eye (A Time Odyssey, Book 1)*, various groups of characters from different periods of human history find t...

There's not much that sticks with you after reading this surprisingly dull story. 3 out of 10 stars. If you're looking for a captivating read, Arthur C. Clarke's *Time's Eye (A Time Odyssey, Book 1)* might not be it. For more exciting science fiction book reviews, keep searching!

This is a wildly entertaining adventure through history. A handful of modern-day people are pulled into an alternate world. People from vastly different eras find themselves in the same time period. What would happen if the Mongol Horde, led by Genghis Khan, were to face off against the disciplined army of Alexander the Great? You'll discover the answer in the novel Time's Eye (A Time Odyssey, Book 1) by Arthur C. Clarke!Throughout the story, the mystery of how these people from different times ...

What can I expect from a title like that, especially with hard-hitting authors like these? A bit of both their strengths, and naturally, a few of their weaknesses. Most of the characters feel like Clarke's creations, but some of the stranger ones felt more like Baxter's doing. The real strength of *Time's Eye (A Time Odyssey, Book 1)* is the way it slices up time and location, dropping whole segments of Earth's population into mishmashes, kind of like *Riverworld*. How does the idea of the ...

Dear Sir Arthur C. Clarke, As a Poul Anderson fan, I really enjoyed your collaborative novel, Time's Eye (A Time Odyssey, Book 1), with Stephen Baxter. It's not that Anderson has a monopoly on time travel or alternate history books, but some of his best work is in that area. Time's Eye (A Time Odyssey, Book 1) reminded me of Anderson’s The Dancer From Atlantis, and also Philip Jose Farmer’s To Your Scattered Bodies Go, with that eclectic mix of historical figures from different eras. I also cau...

Second read - May 19, 2021 – ***. The core idea of "Time's Eye (A Time Odyssey, Book 1)" by Arthur C. Clarke is wild: Earth is suddenly fractured and reassembled with chunks of different eras spanning two million years of human history. Many of these zones were actually uninhabited at the time, yet they're seamlessly integrated with accurately depicted ecosystems. Unsurprisingly, the areas populated by humans are primarily from pre-history and early civilizations, even some early hominids. The m...

Okay, so I've always been a huge fan of Sir Arthur C. Clarke's stuff, right up until now. I absolutely inhaled 2001: A Space Odyssey; I just couldn't put it down. So, when I stumbled across Time's Eye (A Time Odyssey, Book 1) at a used bookstore, it was really Clarke's name that grabbed me, even though the basic idea of the book sounded pretty cool too.But sadly, I was let down. The premise was awesome, but the way it was actually done? Not so much. I kept switching between being bored and total...

I thoroughly enjoyed Time's Eye (A Time Odyssey, Book 1) - it's got action, science, and solidly developed characters. It's also got an ancient history battle royale between Alexander the Great and his army vs. Genghis Khan and his Mongolian hoard. It's a fantastic read for any fan of science fiction and historical adventures!Time's Eye (A Time Odyssey, Book 1) is the first in Stephen Baxter and Arthur C. Clarke's Time Odyssey series, which takes place in the same universe as Clarke's 2001 stori...
