The professors are back! The Templar's Revenge by J. Robert Kennedy is a fast-paced, highly entertaining read. This is the first book in the series where Delta Force doesn't play a direct role, though they are still mentioned. I love how J. Robert Kennedy seamlessly weaves real history into his fiction. The ending, where the cross is turned over to the Vatican, felt a little disappointing to me since we know it isn't actually there in reality. I really wish the author had explained how it was di...

Kennedy has done it again! An absolute joy to read!James and Laura find themselves in hot water once more in The Templar's Revenge! The story kicks off with Saladin defeating the Crusaders by engulfing the battlefield in flames, then attacking them as they fled—talk about home-field advantage! From there, the narrative dives into the legend of the "True Cross" being rescued by the Templars and kept hidden for centuries. It’s a fantastic premise for a thriller! J. Robert Kennedy does a great job ...

I am a huge fan of the James Acton series, but The Templar's Revenge by J. Robert Kennedy wasn’t exactly one of my favorites. In this installment, we revisit the Knights Templar and the legend of their rescue of the True Cross, following a modern-day attempt to fulfill their ancient promise to return it to the Vatican. Honestly, the historical backstory set during the Crusades leading up to the downfall of the Templars was the most interesting part of the book for me. I also really missed having...

This latest adventure takes Acton and his wife to France, where they find themselves fending off relentless attacks from their host’s son and his band of mercenaries. The action sequences in The Templar's Revenge by J. Robert Kennedy are exceptionally well-defined, keeping the suspense high from start to finish. Kennedy’s writing style makes for an easy, page-turning read that pulls you right into the heart of the conflict. The Templar's home is a fascinating setting, packed with secret passages...

Another gripping thrillerI started reading The Templar's Revenge at 11:40 p.m., thinking it would help me drift off to sleep. That was a huge mistake—I couldn't put it down until I finished the final page. As always, J. Robert Kennedy delivers a brilliant story packed with Knights Templar, the True Cross, ruthless mercenaries, and dark Vatican secrets. The professors find themselves in all sorts of high-stakes predicaments, but luckily, they have some incredible friends to call on when things ge...

To call this an action thriller would be a massive understatement. In The Templar's Revenge by J. Robert Kennedy, James Acton and Laura Palmer are summoned to a French chateau to secure a mysterious relic. The adrenaline kicks in almost immediately when a sniper takes out their driver on the road to the estate. The narrative expertly jumps between the present day and the 12th and 13th centuries, detailing the rise of the Templars and their desperate mission to protect the True Cross. Both timeli...

I should probably just go pick up another Dan Brown novel featuring Professor Robert Langdon. J. Robert Kennedy's James Acton feels strikingly similar, almost derivative. Both authors write about professors of antiquity who constantly find themselves dragged into high-stakes religious mysteries. In The Templar's Revenge, James Acton and his wife, Laura Palmer—also a professor of antiquity—are invited to a French chateau to recover the True Cross. Predictably, Acton ends up injured, leaving his w...

Action is backI've read all of the Acton novels and loved every single one. It took me quite a while to discover this author, but I'm so glad I did. I still have some of his other books to get through, but I'm working my way through them. J. Robert Kennedy is a fantastic writer, and his books are the kind you just can't put down. The Templar's Revenge is no different—an incredibly gripping read that kept me hooked from start to finish. If you're looking for your next great thriller book review, ...
