Picking up right where *The Maze Runner* left off, the surviving group of young men and Teresa find themselves, possibly, in a safe haven in the real world… but are they safe, and *is* it really the real world? Within days, they're once again stuck in a world of uncertainty, conspiracies, and mass insanity, although this time they're constantly on the move, forced on a mission for survival across a 100-mile trek through the Scorched lands! I'm afraid *The Scorch Trials* was a huge letdown for m...

"Too many questions. Too many shuck questions, all without answers."And that pretty much sums it up! I swear, I'm as confused and angry as Thomas at this point, and with all the crap WICKED pulled, I can't help but wonder if they're completely off their rockers. But I'm getting ahead of myself, so let's start at the beginning, right? We'll make it easy and begin with the similarities between the movie and James Dashner's *The Scorch Trials*: - The characters- There's a girl named Brenda- There is...

3 starsI honestly don't know what to make of this. It's a complete and utter mess.I adored the first book, but I'm really not sure I feel the same way about *The Scorch Trials* by James Dashner. The writing style just didn't work for me at all. I didn't mind it so much in the first book, but in this second installment, it just became unbearable. It felt clunky and distracting.I loved the characters in the first book, but now I just don't care about them at all. Their decisions felt forced, and I ...

Dashner's lyrical genius evokes such heart-wrenching emotions in The Scorch Trials that I often have to pause to collect myself. “Anybody else wanna pee their pants and cry for mommy?”Thomas's innermost thoughts have this je ne sais quoi. "I felt her absence. It was like waking up one day with no teeth in your mouth..." (Somebody, please, send help)What the mess is happening to this plot? Instead of a giant maze, we are faced with the zombie apocalypse and a desert. Whiplash.Essentially, we have...

Sorry to break the bad news, but... guys... you have to run again...No, no, not the maze... but here... Welcome to the new Trial...And Thomas, remember...WICKED is Good so shuckin' Wicked"Hemorrhagic Ebola virus is spreading worldwide, and a case has appeared in New York... Global warming has reached an advanced stage... and groups are calling for saving the Arctic."Do you still think the events of this novel are impossible to happen in the future??If you watched—and liked—the first movie, don't...

Ugh. I'm not sure how to review this book without sounding like I'm just going on a full-blown rant. So, I guess I'll just rant. First off, I'll admit I only have myself to blame for picking up this audiobook. I wasn't a fan of the first book, yet I still decided to give *The Scorch Trials* a shot. Somehow, this one was even worse than *The Maze Runner*. How? Let me count the ways…**1. Character development.** James Dashner deserves an award for achieving the impossible: establishing *negative* ...

Throughout reading *The Scorch Trials*, I started keeping track of how often Thomas blacks out or falls asleep, either at the end of a chapter or mid-paragraph. Wanna know the final count? 29. Twenty-nine times this dude lost consciousness! Out of 360 pages, James Dashner leaves you hanging with "and then he slept" a whopping 29 times. Sounds thrilling, right? If that didn't bug you the first time, try rereading *The Scorch Trials* (I DON'T recommend it) and then tell me you...

What the hell was that? I've enjoyed books and disliked their sequels before, but rarely have I loved one and absolutely hated the other. I desperately tried to finish The Scorch Trials, but I was so bored. I kept getting distracted by my family, my cats, or even random bits of fluff on the carpet. So, I just skim-read it to the end to get a basic idea of the conclusion.\n\nI truly loved The Maze Runner, even though some people found it annoying – especially the protagonist – and not the best-wr...

Holy CRAP, this book is INSANE!!!!!!!!!!! James Dashner's *The Scorch Trials* is an absolute rollercoaster. Seriously, I barely had time to breathe! If you're looking for a YA dystopian novel that will keep you on the edge of your seat, look no further. This one's a wild ride.

I AM SO CONFUSED RIGHT NOW.I hate it when people do that. Don't you just want to tell them, "Okay, calm down. It's not like writing in caps is going to get your point across any further." But I just HAD to, because my brain is bursting at the seams after reading The Scorch Trials by James Dashner.I love Thomas' name! I know my enthusiasm is quite unnecessary, but I've never seen the name Thomas used for the protagonist of a book. And a great one, too. Now there are other references besides that ...
