4.5 stars! I honestly don't believe Rachel Harrison is capable of writing a bad book. As far as horror book reviews go, this one is simple: read anything by Rachel Harrison, especially "The Possessed House."

I've devoured every single Rachel Harrison novel, even went as far as pre-ordering 'Play Nice' in both hardcover and on my Kindle. But honestly? 'The Possessed House' just didn't do it for me.Clio, the main character, is straight-up insufferable. She's rude, totally self-absorbed, and just plain obnoxious, all while waving the "girl boss" flag. I'm so over this being passed off as feminism. Being cruel, emotionally stunted, and completely unloving doesn't make you a strong female lead. It just m...

*SPOOKY SEASON PREVIEW*Outlier Review: đď¸Clio Barnes is a stylist and influencer with a ton of followers, but what they donât know is that she grew up in a haunted house.Well, not exactly hauntedâ*possessed* might be more accurate. đAfter a messy divorce, Clioâs mother, Alex, moved Clio and her sisters into a new house. It was the only one she could afford that would keep the girls in the same school and neighborhood as their dad.I guess thatâs because it was rumored to be hauntedâthough she d...

⌠My Overall Thoughts ⌠This dark and witty novel is truly one of a kind! It was unlike anything I've ever read. It wasn't just about a haunted house; it was also about a multilayered, dysfunctional family. The things these characters said to one another actually made me laugh, which made the novel feel more realistic and well-balanced. I really enjoyed how *The Possessed House* is fast-paced while still explaining everything so well. It has a strong build-up, and the ending was perfectly execu...

The Possessed House is half haunted house story, half dysfunctional family drama, and it's really a lot of fun. I mean, sure, the characters are almost all insufferable and Clio desperately needs some therapy and the Barnes family demon is hands-down the least threatening demon in literary history (well, other than that bit at the end), but overall it makes for one entertaining train wreck of a novel. Looking for a fun horror book? This might be it!But, jeez, Clio is such an annoying person, you...

Buy it for the demons. Stay for the dysfunction.đťđ¨Rachel Harrison nails it again with *The Possessed House*, a devilishly clever tale where the real demons aren't just lurking in the walls, they're embedded in the family tree. Equal parts haunted house horror and psychological family drama, this slow-burn stunner peels back layers of paint and pain, one cracked wall (and childhood memory) at a time. If you're looking for great horror book reviews, look no further.Clio Louise Barnes seems to ha...

âď¸ âď¸ âď¸ âď¸ âď¸ Are all of Rachel Harrison's books this good? Because what the heck have I been doing not obsessing over reading every single book she's ever written? "The Possessed House" was straight-up brilliant. Seriously, one of the best horror books I've read recently.I can see how Clio won't be everyone's cup of tea. She's incredibly stubborn, reckless, unpredictable, and chaotic, but I think that's exactly what I love so much about her. She stands out to me as being such a unique protagon...

I think *The Possessed House* absolutely earns a place on the throne as my favorite Rachel Harrison book to date! Maybe itâs my lifelong obsession with haunted house stories, demons, and all things paranormalâan obsession probably sparked (or scarred) by *The Exorcist* ruining my childhood in the best possible way. Or maybe itâs my soft spot for dark, dysfunctional family dramas, where the real horrors lie in the emotional wounds, bottled resentments, and the silence that festers between relativ...

Pre-read: I heard something about evil Polly Pocket and I need to find out what that means.-------------Mhh, now I've read the whole thing and I still don't really know what that means. Maybe I'm missing some integral knowledge because I never had a Polly Pocket house. I had a Polly Pocket jumbo jet that turned into a catwalk when you opened it up. (It was sick.) Anyway, **The Possessed House** was just ok. It worked as a story about a dysfunctional family with toxic parents and strong but compl...

Haunted Mansion for adults. The only thing that kept it from being 5 stars for me was that I never connected with any of the characters. I don't know how else to describe it other than it had a chick-lit feel. And that's not going to be a bad thing for most readers, so don't take that as a knock. Clio is the youngest sister of three, with a devil may care attitude and confidence that seems to be a common denominator in those who are the baby of the family. She's not a bad person, but she's a bit ...
