3.5 starsIf there's one thing Tiffany D. Jackson's *The Manipulator* does, it's keep you guessing. This book had me constantly on edge! *The Manipulator* centers on Jordyn, a freshman at a historically Black university in Washington D.C., a big change after attending a predominantly white high school. At Frasier U, she finds a great group of girlfriends, but then she meets Devonte, her roommate's brother, recently out of prison. Devonte seems intense and intriguing at first, but Jordyn starts to...

This book single-handedly yanked me out of my reading slump. I literally couldn't put down "The Manipulator" and honestly, I was constantly side-eyeing the pages in disbelief at what I was reading. I had a couple of minor quibbles with the ending, but overall, I REALLY loved this book by Tiffany D. Jackson. If you're looking for a gripping thriller, add "The Manipulator" to your TBR pile. Definitely one of the best YA book reviews I've read lately!

It's a real struggle to buy into this whole scammer setup when all I can think is, "These girls are just unbelievably dense!" Tiffany D. Jackson's *The Manipulator* requires a bit of suspension of disbelief, let's just say that. If you're looking for a twisty YA thriller, this book review might help you decide if *The Manipulator* is for you, but be warned: prepare to question some character choices!

Okay, so I'm probably in the minority here, but that ending to "The Manipulator" by Tiffany D. Jackson? Not sure it justified the mental gymnastics I went through to get there 😭. I'm just... conflicted. Let's say 3.5 stars. I'm looking for my next great thriller read, and this one just fell a little short in the final act. #bookreview #thrillerbooks

If I could give "The Manipulator" by Tiffany D. Jackson six stars, I absolutely would, and honestly, I'm okay with saying that. Because WOW. This is an amazing thriller and one of the best book reviews I've written this year.

★ ★ ⭒ ⭒ ⭒1.5 stars ꨄ︎ I wrote seven different rants in my notes app before realizing… it’s not worth it. This book isn’t worth it.🖤 I’ll keep it simple: she could’ve handled everything without dragging innocent people into her little plan. ➼ But no, she just *had* to ruin lives for the plot. And that “twist”? Please. It was inconsistent with her character, her thoughts, her actions, and literally everything we’d been told for 300 pages. ➼ That was some Freida McFadden-level absurd plot twist, a...

This is the first time I've been genuinely disappointed by a novel from Tiffany D. Jackson. I've had minor issues before (her two horror novels have some pacing and tension problems), but the good always outweighed the bad, and her ability to delve so deeply into real social issues made up for other weaknesses. But this time, I'm not so sure. She's still exceptionally good at tackling social issues, and I can't deny their relevance here. The idea of conspiracies and cults within Black communitie...

If you're hooked on true crime, especially cult stories, or just love a read that's totally unhinged, then Tiffany D. Jackson's "The Manipulator" might be your next obsession. This book review is for you!The novel starts innocently enough, but the deeper you get, the wilder it becomes. You don't need to know the real-life case that inspired it (about Larry Ray, a student's father at Sarah Lawrence College, who moved into her dorm and created an abusive, controlling cult). Both the true story and...

ANYTHING TIFFANY WRITES, I'LL READ! In The Manipulator, Jordyn, a freshman in college, is about to be embroiled in a nightmare when one of her roommate’s ex-convict brother moves into their dorm and starts controlling their every move. Whewww, what a ride! Tiffany has a way of grabbing you by the lapels and completely engrossing you in her stories from the get-go. She's a master storyteller.I really enjoyed Jordyn as a narrator (although her behavior at times annoyed me) and was so hungry for mo...

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️The Manipulator is classic Tiffany D. Jackson. A true-to-life, hard-hitting YA thriller with thought-provoking social horror elements and a compelling protagonist. This story gets so intense, and it absolutely succeeded in getting my pulse racing in multiple places. A++ to the added twist at the end, which I did not see coming!I'm getting ahead of myself, though. What's this book about? This story follows Jordyn, who, against her overbearing parents' wishes, has given up he...
