In "The Lane Betrayal (Time Box Saga, Book 1)", author John A. Heldt introduces us to Mark Lane, a physicist who's not just built one, but *two* time machines. When he uncovers a sinister plot by his employer to misuse this technology, he does what any family man would: packs up his wife and four kids and jumps back in time to Virginia, 1865, right at the tail end of the American Civil War. Overall, I really enjoyed this trip through time. I found the story captivating both from a historical pe...

This is my first book by John A. Heldt, and I have to say, for a "time travel" story, I was pleasantly surprised. I'm sure we, as readers and history buffs, have all thought about time travel, but I'll admit the genre isn't usually my cup of tea. What I'd read before was poorly executed and just turned me off completely. But I was genuinely surprised by this story of a family on the run from a megalomaniac who plans to use time travel devices to rule the world. I know, it sounds a bit Austin Po...

If you're searching for a master storyteller when it comes to time travel novels, look no further than John A. Heldt. Time travel can be a tricky subject to write about because the "how" of it all presents so many possibilities. I've read multiple books by this author, and each time, I discover a new favorite. In "The Lane Betrayal (Time Box Saga, Book 1)", the Lane family is on the run from Mark's boss and the company he worked for because they want to use his inventions for nefarious purposes...

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy from the Author. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. *The Lane Betrayal (Time Box Saga, Book 1)* by John A. Heldt kicks off a new series that leans more into science fiction than the time travel Mr. Heldt usually delivers. Can the Lane family keep themselves safe in 1865? The Lane Family The Lane family includes Mark, Mary, Jordan, Laura, Jeremy, and Ashley. Mark is the developer and the entire reason the Time B...

Happy day, it's finally here! *The Lane Betrayal (Time Box Saga, Book 1)*, the first entry in the new Time Box series by author John A. Heldt. He kindly provided an e-copy for review. John Heldt has become one of my favorite authors (actually, my absolute favorite). I've read and thoroughly enjoyed all of his previous books. *The Lane Betrayal* is no exception. As usual, Mr. Heldt has surpassed his previous works with this new installment. Not surprising, as he seems to do that with each new s...

“The Lane Betrayal” is a thrilling cat-and-mouse chase through time, as Mark Lane transports his entire family—wife, two daughters, and two sons—to 1865, right as the American Civil War is ending. Their mission? To hide from the billion-dollar corporation Mark has double-crossed. Except, it's not really a betrayal. Mark uncovered the CEO's nefarious scheme to manipulate key historical events, and to prevent this, Mark takes the time-travel devices first. The Lanes have meticulously planned this ...
