I absolutely couldn't have predicted the explosive turn the next 200 pages would take while reading the first 200. You'd think I'd be used to James Rollins' books by now, but I'm still surprised by how he writes! Anyway, it's another amazing journey with Sigma Force. If you're looking for thrilling book reviews, definitely check out "The Judas Strain" by James Rollins. You won't be disappointed by this action-packed adventure!

Earlier this year, I dove into the Sigma Force series by James Rollins. I remembered loving one of his books ages ago, but couldn't place which one... and even though I started reviewing my reads on Goodreads, I didn't want to guess. I also vividly remember seeing one of his standalone novels, Amazonia, all over the airports back when I traveled more. Anyway, I’ve just finished the fourth book, The Judas Strain, and I'm definitely keen to keep going, even if I had a few mixed feelings about this...

"Why the bubonic plague suddenly arose out of China's Gobi desert during the middle ages and slew a third of the world's population remains unknown. In fact, no one knows why so many plagues and influenza of the last century - SARS, the Avian flu- have arisen out of Asia. But what is known with fair certainty: the next great pandemic will arise again out of the East. - US Centers for Disease control and prevention, May 2006" - This quote at the beginning of James Rollins' *The Judas Strain* was ...

I was a big fan of James Rollins even before reading this book. Now that I've finished it, I have to say my admiration for him has only grown. The thing that attracts me most to his books is the blend of fact and fiction. He mixes the two so well that my jaw drops every few pages. I learn so many new things from each book (though I forget them all soon after :3 ). This book, The Judas Strain, is no exception. Rollins weaves a bizarre mix of history and microbiology. I liked it a little more than...

James Rollins vividly recreates Marco Polo’s two-year voyage from China in 1292 in "The Judas Strain." The novel is shrouded in mystery and intrigue, proving both puzzling and utterly compelling. Polo sets sail with 14 ships and over 600 warriors, only to face decimation by a mysterious plague that leaves only 18 survivors, including himself and a princess betrothed to Persia. Whispers of ‘angels,’ a cryptic ‘map,’ cannibalism, and piracy abound. This secret must remain buried, but what exactly ...

AN ANCIENT, PANDEMIC-CAUSING VIRUS whose origin and cure is linked to ANGKOR WAT and the mysterious return voyage of MARCO POLO from the court of KUBLAI KHAN...yep, it looks like another job for SIGMA FORCE.The SIGMA Force is one of the truly delicious concepts to be introduced into the popcorn-eating, page-turning, action-packed, spy-guy, thrill-o-rama genre. PhD-toting scientific brainiacs with Navy Seal kill skills and James Bond spy craft (minus the babes and booze…damn). SIGMA is a covert o...

Sigma Force is back in action! (Following up on *Map of Bones*). A deadly microbe has turned parts of the ocean into a toxic, flesh-eating monster. What on earth is going on? Gray Pierce and the rest of the Sigma Force crew team up with the formidable Seichan to prevent their nemesis, the Guild, from weaponizing this biological threat. The action splits, with Gray and Seichan on one track, and Lisa Cummings and Monk on another, both focused on the Indonesian Islands, the origin point of this thr...

James Rollins' novels usually remind me of a strange mix of Michael Crichton, Dan Brown, and Tom Clancy—none of whom are really my cup of tea. Rollins is different, though—I love how he blends myth/legend, science, and intrigue. *The Judas Strain* kicks off with a viral outbreak, then chases Marco Polo to Cambodia (guided by an ancient manuscript), and has the SIGMA team hunting terrorists across three continents. If that sounds a bit out there, it's only because you haven't read it. Rollins alm...

Okay, I'm almost ashamed to give "The Judas Strain" by James Rollins a solid 4 stars, but here we are. It’s definitely a guilty pleasure read, hitting that sweet spot of over-the-top action in a testosterone-charged, Indiana-Jones-meets-Mission-Impossible kind of way. If that gives you any idea, I almost knocked it down to a 3 because, well, cannibals. (Yep, you read that right, cannibals.)I was maybe sixty pages in when I realized this was part of a larger series. Some of you know that reading ...

A friend recommended James Rollins to me because I enjoy books by Dan Brown and Steve Berry. I've read a couple of his books now, and I completely agree with my friend's recommendation. I find that Rollins' books kick off with a bang and hold my attention from start to finish. In this one, The Judas Strain, I'm learning about Marco Polo and the mysteries surrounding his 24-year voyage that took him to Kublai Khan's palaces in China. I'd highly recommend The Judas Strain to anyone who enjoys a go...
