April 2022 is officially my "Fantasy/Science Fiction Month!"
Why I chose to read The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August:
1. I was intrigued by a review written by my Goodreads friend, Mary;
2. I was lucky enough to snag a copy a couple of years back at my local library's annual book sale; and,
3. Seriously, check out that title!
What I Loved:
1. A totally fascinating take on kalachakra/ouroborans – people stuck in a loop, reliving history over and over, even though their own lives might shif...

I really loved *Touch* and found it completely engrossing. I've had *The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August* by Claire North sitting on my shelves for ages, waiting for the right mood to dive in. Alas; either pandemic or the wrong mood. As it is about a man who is always reborn after he dies to the exact same life--think *Groundhog's Day* only with one's whole life--it just didn't work for me. Looking for gripping time travel books? Maybe skip this one for now.I found it too repetitive, even as...

I'm a little torn on how to review **The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August** by Claire North. Obviously, I liked it since I gave it 4 stars. I even think this would make a fantastic movie!I love the core concept, and honestly, I wasn't expecting what I got from this story. This Sci-Fi/Thriller really intrigued me, but at the same time, some parts felt a little slow. It makes sense when you consider that we're literally talking about 15 lifetimes, though. A lot happens, but the constant jumping...

…fifteen reasons to read The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August1. The Book (or, the short review). It's a fun, fast-paced, and endlessly readable novel. Seriously, you won't want to put it down.2. The Premise. You live, you die, end of story, right? Except, not quite for the Ouroborans, who live, die, and are reborn to relive their lives again and again. Think of the Ouroborans as people whose lives end only to begin again. Mind-bending stuff!3. The Lead Character. Harry August is compelling, r...

“This thing you carry inside you, I don’t know what it is. I don’t know where you got it. But Harry, the past is the past. You are alive today. That is all that matters. You must remember, because it is who you are, but as it is who you are, you must never, ever regret. To regret your past is to regret your soul.”
This book is incredible. And I have Mike to thank for it.Of course, it doesn't hurt that I keep picturing the main character as Eddie Redmayne.Anyone who knows me will know that thi...

Wow, whatever I was expecting, it definitely wasn't this. The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August by Claire North is historical, it's science fictional, it's a spy novel, it's like a super long episode of Doctor Who without the time travel, it's a spiteful letter about messed-up friendships and revenge. What *doesn't* happen in The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August?! If you're looking for unique book reviews, this one will definitely surprise you!

This was a truly fascinating science fiction novel! I'm giving it 4.5 stars. In Claire North's *The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August*, Harry August lives his life over... and over... and over again. His memory gradually returns each time he's a toddler. The first time his prior memories reawaken, in his second life, he's convinced he's insane and ends up committing suicide when he's only about seven years old, only to find himself starting all over again in a third life. Since it's clear that...

Seriously clever stuff! The first half was good, but after that halfway point, it went completely AWESOME. If you enjoy time travel books, Claire North's "The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August" is a must-read. It's one of the best book reviews I can give - go read it!

1.5 stars. I've honestly never been so relieved to finish a book. Reading Claire North's *The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August* felt like an absolute chore, but I just couldn't bring myself to quit because I *hate* abandoning books. And I was curious to see how it all wrapped up, so I guess I cared a little bit. It just dragged on and on and on with so much historical detail and rambling. Honestly, I thought it was a terrible book – a genuine cure for insomnia – until I came online and saw al...

Harry August is a kalachakra, a man who is reborn at the same point in time over and over with his memories intact. When a little girl warns Harry on his eleventh death bed that the end of the world is coming sooner with each cycle, Harry goes on the offensive. Can he stop the end of the world, even with the help of the Cronus Club?I got this from Netgalley.I love a bit of timey-wimey, and *The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August* has it in spades. Remember the movie *Groundhog Day* where Bill M...
