3.25 stars Okay, buckle up, time-travel enthusiasts, because Nathan Van Coops' *The Chronothon: A Time Traveler's Race* is… a ride. A bumpy one, but a ride nonetheless. Let's be clear: the premise is gold. Time travelers racing through history? Sign me up! Van Coops clearly has a passion for the subject, and the world-building is genuinely intriguing. I loved the little details about the Chronothon itself – the rules, the dangers, the sheer absurdity of it all. There are moments where the book...

Okay, "The Chronothon: A Time Traveler's Race" by Nathan Van Coops literally gave me a splitting headache... but the kind I weirdly enjoyed? That's honestly what I expect from a good time travel story anyway. This installment, though, felt like 80% visuals and 20% dialogue compared to the first book. I was hoping for more character interaction and less running around, because it felt like a non-stop chase scene. It got a bit tedious, and I could pretty much predict how it was all going to play o...

I'm absolutely thrilled to have stumbled upon Nathan Van Coops' work! This is the second book I've devoured in his ongoing time travel series, and it's a blast. Benjamin Travers is in a bit of a pickle, to say the least. He's been strong-armed into competing in "The Chronothon: A Time Traveler's Race", a seriously dangerous, "Amazing Race"-style adventure spanning different eras. The mob's got their own shady reasons for wanting him in the game. What follows is a non-stop, thrilling adventure as...

Nathan Van Coops's *The Chronothon: A Time Traveler's Race* is a hefty book, and it feels even longer if you struggle to keep up with time travel jumps and resets like I do. While it's a real swashbuckling adventure, I honestly think I would've enjoyed it more if it were half the length and had half the betrayals. Seriously, it felt like everyone and their dog was against Ben and the other racers in the Chronothon (a time-travel marathon that drives the whole plot and still has my brain flashing...

I picked "The Chronothon: A Time Traveler's Race" for our book club this month, just choosing the time travel category at random. I didn't realize it was the second book in Nathan Van Coops' series until I'd already finished it, but jumping right in wasn't a problem at all. I was completely hooked! Considering I only chose it based on a few Amazon reviews, I'm thrilled I did! Now I'm planning to grab the first book to see what I missed, and I'm definitely looking forward to the third! If you're ...

In the 2150s, time travel has become so commonplace it's almost boring. Time travelers know all the basic rules, like how *not* to fuse themselves with objects from the past. In a society like that, it seems inevitable that time travel would evolve into an extreme sport. Benjamin Travers doesn’t know it yet, but he’s about to be recruited from the future to join a Chronothon whether he likes it or not. And it’s only at the very end of the game that he starts to understand why, and just how impor...

I thoroughly enjoyed Nathan Van Coops' first novel, "In Times Like These," and now this second one is even better. "The Chronothon: A Time Traveler's Race" isn't simply a continuation of ITLT, but a wildly imaginative standalone story, and a truly unique tale at that. I've honestly never read a novel quite like this one, where the author constructs an entirely new time travel science with such credible and thoroughly enjoyable detail. Equally fascinating is the diverse array of characters in "T...

I've read some good novels this year, but *The Chronothon: A Time Traveler's Race* by Nathan Van Coops is a *great* one! It's the sequel to *In Times Like These*, which I thoroughly enjoyed earlier this year. You don't need to have read book one to enjoy *The Chronothon: A Time Traveler's Race*, as everything you need to know is explained as you go. Nathan Van Coops has masterfully created a plausible time travel method, while also making sure it's not easy for those who want to use it. As Vlad...

Notes:

Well, poo. I enjoyed the first book but this one was more less plausible and more ridiculous. The intro set a tone to not believe anything else that happened in the book. The main character did not seem the same. It was like an alternate reality version. Which would have been fine if we were suddenly in a different time line but this story was a continuation of the one that was concluded. *shrug*

The ChronothonBy Nathan Van Coops (book two of the series)5 Stars With a strong warning...Ben's time travel adventures continue with Mym, his favorite lady, playing a crucial background role. This time, he finds himself being maneuvered into participating in a rigged and highly unethical intergalactic time travel competition, one for which he is particularly untrained. In terms of well developed characters and an intricate story line that never falls apart, this book was pure pleasure to read. No...
