Okay, so in theory, I should have absolutely devoured this book, or at least had a blast reading it. Nope! It's scraping by with three stars, and honestly, I doubt I'll bother with the rest of the series. Although, if I stumble across them at the library, maybe I'll give them a shot. Just maybe. Honestly, this Patrick Lee's *The Breach* review is lukewarm at best.

After finishing The Breach by Patrick Lee, I can't shake the feeling that it was practically designed to be a video game.Pure action, a real shoot-em-up, just like a video game. The whole time you can imagine you're the main character from "24," going from one bloody event to the next as the fairly high-concept sci-fi idea driving the story slowly unfolds.Like I said, a video game.Personally, I prefer role-playing video games to straightforward shooters. I want to feel the impact of my choices, ...

4.5 stars – A thrilling tech-sci-fi thriller...The opening pages are quite peaceful: Travis Chase, after a long prison sentence, is seeking a fresh start in the remote Alaskan wilderness—where he unexpectedly stumbles upon a plane wreck filled with bodies. Then things escalate rapidly and quite brutally, as the secret Travis uncovers reveals an unbelievable phenomenon with spectacular possibilities. One of these possibilities, unfortunately, includes a disastrous future for Earth.Patrick Lee comp...

An entertaining hyperinflation of time travel Chekhov's guns and MacGuffins, all packed into a sci-fi technothriller with a badass character and some meta world problems lurking in the series. Think "time travel book" meets "action thriller." Old ideas in new clothes The extra goodness comes for sci-fi readers who have seen many of these physics manipulations and magic-like abilities in different settings. But condensing them into one mysterious machine makes *The Breach* a tour de force of sci...

It took me a few tries to really get into *The Breach* by Patrick Lee, but once I did, I was hooked. I actually read most of it on my drive to Illinois for Thanksgiving. It's one of those books that starts a little slow, but once it grabs you, it *really* grabs you. The whole concept is so wild, it takes a bit to wrap your head around what's actually happening. The closest thing I can compare it to is the TV show "Fringe." It's that level of crazy. Honestly, anyone deep into conspiracy theories ...

This book was totally fun but also completely bonkers. The story in *The Breach* has so many twists and turns, especially towards the end, that after finishing it, I spent ages trying to untangle the craziness. Then I gave up trying to make sense of it all, because the plot demanded so much suspension of disbelief that I might as well have been floating on air. If you're looking for twisty thrillers, this might be it!But let's get back to the fun bits! Travis Chase sets off on what he expects to...

You know what? I ended up liking "The Breach" by Patrick Lee way more than I thought I would. I'm really hoping this kicks off a solid series that keeps its momentum. Our main character here is someone who's definitely got a past – or maybe I should say a Past with a capital P. He used to be a dirty cop, and we find out pretty early on (so no spoilers here) that something he did led to the death of the woman he loved. He's spent the last few years behind bars and is now trying to start over at 4...

I read this book because David Goyer is adapting it into a film. Reading it reminded me of The Onion's joke that *Fast & Furious* was written by a five-year-old – because that's the only logical explanation for the illogical sequences and stupendously tired tropes in that movie. And honestly, it's the only way to explain what happens in *The Breach*. You've got your main character, a total nobody with a troubled past, who gets thrown into a massive government cover-up when he finds the Presiden...

Just finished *The Breach* by Patrick Lee, and all I can say is: AWESOME! It's a very quick and easy read, which surprised me. I thought it would be a labyrinthine story full of hard-to-understand techno/sci-fi jargon. While there's plenty of "sci-fi talk," it's perfectly paced to help you understand things without getting lost. First and foremost, it's an action-suspense novel, and it delivers that in spades. The story never loses its steam, and the pages just fly by! If you're looking for a ne...

Please note: I read and reviewed this back in 2010 from a copy I received from Amazon Vine. The Setup: The Breach kicks off like a straight-up thriller. Our main guy, Travis Chase, fresh out of prison, finds the wreckage of a 747. Inside? The dead body of the First Lady and a freaky note hinting at something called "Tangent." And get this – no rescue team, no signs anyone even knows the plane went down. That's when things get seriously strange, and the story takes a hard left into sci-fi territory...
