Oh my god. Suzanne Collins has done it again. I can't remember the last time I cried this much while reading. Probably Mockingjay, actually! I found "Sunrise on the Reaping" particularly heartbreaking because I already knew how it had to end. There could only be one victor. There was no chance of a Catching Fire type of ending... all of the other tributes were goners, it was just a matter of when and how. "Goodbye, Maysilee Donner, who I loathed, then grudgingly respected, then loved. Not as a s...

I was really looking forward to this latest Hunger Games book, Sunrise on the Reaping, even though I wasn't a huge fan of The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. Mostly, I was excited because I like Haymitch as a character. But now I'm totally convinced that this series has run out of steam. Sunrise on the Reaping feels like it's just for the die-hard fans. And if you *are* a fan, there are some entertaining moments, but nothing about Suzanne Collins' Sunrise on the Reaping feels new or essential.Do...

I wish **Sunrise on the Reaping** would've burned in all-fire. That way I wouldn't have had to waste my time reading nonsensical fanfiction that retcons vital parts of the OG trilogy. I genuinely refuse to believe this was written by the same author that wrote *The Hunger Games*. There's just absolutely no way. I will die on the hill that this book should've followed Haymitch as a victor after his games. Everything about his games was already explained in canon. We could've watched Haymitch ...

Nostalgia is a powerful drug... especially for a franchise. If you can enjoy a book purely for nostalgic vibes, then you might find something here. But if you're looking for a story that actually makes sense, has a clear purpose, or isn't just retconning, fan service, and utter nonsense, then steer clear of **Sunrise on the Reaping** by Suzanne Collins.I'd probably give the first part of **Sunrise on the Reaping** three stars, but I was cutting it a lot of slack, hoping it would all come together...

I want to preface this by saying that *The Hunger Games* are probably my most re-read books ever, so much so that I can recite paragraphs of them, and I also might or might have not written a college paper about them. I also seem to be in the minority of people who enjoyed *The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes*, despite having minor issues with it. So trust me when I say that I went into this with the idea that I would at least somewhat enjoy this book. Oftentimes when series get really popular, t...

A tale of survival, of death and despair, Where the Capitol’s twisted games poison the air. A broken boy, a hollow shell, Left to wander a living hell.. Suzanne Collins has done it again, you'll see . Some books entertain. Some books haunt. This one? It devours! This book isn’t just about survival; it’s about what survival takes from you. The way it rips pieces from people, leaving them breathing but never whole. Love, war, grief, hope—it’s all tangled together in something so de...

I'm ready to be emotionally wrecked all over again. These books are basically our generation's tragic origin story. Honestly, this level of devastation should probably be kept away from teenagers.Even with Sunrise on the Reaping, I know exactly where it's going! I know Haymitch is alive in the future, dealing with 25 years of alcoholism-fueled depression and loss. And yet, here I am, sitting here like :) surely some happy stuff will happen too, right? :)I really hated the last book – seriously, w...

“Sure as the sun will rise tomorrow.” I honestly have no words to describe this masterpiece. It was honestly so good. It's been days since I finished Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins, and I'm still hungover from this book. I am honestly trying to move on, but it's not happening. Sunrise on the Reaping captured me so easily, and it literally enveloped my brain—like, I CAN'T SLEEP because the events just replay in my mind. I just know the movie will traumatize me even more, but I feel ...

2 stars“Suzanne Collins only writes when she has something to say”Well, girl.....Should have stayed silent, actually.I said what I said. You can see how excited I was about this book in my pre-read comment, so no, I am not a hater of Suzanne or the Hunger Games overall. This book is just ass.Not only does this book NOT add anything to the trilogy, but it also adds new plot holes. Snow made the video of the games be changed not only to delete all the rebellious stuff that Haymitch did at the game...
