Stormbreaker (Alex Rider, Book 1)
by Anthony Horowitz kicks off the Alex Rider teen spy series. The police claim Alex’s uncle, Ian Rider, died in a car accident, but Alex isn’t buying it. He discovers bullet holes in his uncle’s car. Recruited by Britain’s top-secret intelligence agency to track down his uncle’s killers and complete Ian’s final mission, Alex goes undercover.
Turns out, those family vacations were actually training exercises for Alex. Throw in a couple of weeks of intense tra...

This is easily one of the best spy books I’ve ever read. I saw the movie on TV and immediately wanted to dive into the books. The book was even better than the film, although picturing Alex from the movie while reading definitely helped. I'm reading so much more now, and I'm really into the Alex Rider series. I also enjoy the Jason Steed series, and I've just started the Cherub series.
In *Stormbreaker (Alex Rider, Book 1)* by Anthony Horowitz, Alex's parents are dead, and he lives with his unc...

Q: You're never too young to die. (c) Q: Killing is for grown-ups and you're still a child. (c)I've been reading *Stormbreaker (Alex Rider, Book 1)* in tiny bits and pieces since, well, forever. Or at least, it feels like it. I have no idea why I kept picking it up again. Maybe I'm just a sucker for cheesy stories? This book is so cheesy, it needs a cheese wire to cut through it. And I was actually amazed to see one provided in the plot! How thoughtful of Anthony Horowitz, cheers!Q:It was only th...

Way back in 2007, I randomly decided to borrow the audiobook version of Anthony Horowitz's *Stormbreaker (Alex Rider, Book 1)* from my local library. I’d heard about it before; the movie adaptation was mentioned in *Nintendo Power* magazine, but it didn't seem to stay in cinemas very long. Still, when I listened to *Stormbreaker (Alex Rider, Book 1)*, I was enthralled and soon sought out the rest of the series, mostly through my local library system. That was years ago. Though I read the newer vo...

My son absolutely devoured "Stormbreaker (Alex Rider, Book 1)", so I promised him I'd give it a read too. Honestly, spy thrillers aren't usually my thing, but I'll review it from his perspective. This is the first book in Anthony Horowitz's series about Alex Rider, who gets pulled into the world of espionage after his father's death. It's a fun, imaginative story packed with cool spy gadgets, thrilling chases, and a properly nasty villain. My son especially loved the action and the cliffhangers ...

Okay, so the writing in "Stormbreaker (Alex Rider, Book 1)" by Anthony Horowitz isn't actually bad. The problem I have is kind of two-pronged (though one of the prongs might be multi-pointed). First, this book feels very young in some ways. Given the plot, it almost *has* to be, and that's the other problem for me.I just couldn't wrap my head around a 14-year-old super spy. I know, I know, I love Harry Potter, and I enjoyed the Ranger's Apprentice books, as well as other books with young heroes....

You know those books you see everywhere—in every library, every bookstore—and one day you finally break down and pick it up? **Stormbreaker (Alex Rider, Book 1)** by Anthony Horowitz was one of those books for me.And I should have just left it on the shelf. The first few pages were okay. I was ready to get sucked in. I mean, I'd seen it EVERYWHERE. It had to be good, right? Like the *Pendragon* books? Yeah, this would be the same, right?Nope. Everything after those first few pages was complete no...

I picked up "Stormbreaker (Alex Rider, Book 1)" because it's a massive hit with my students. And I get the appeal: espionage, a kid thrust into the middle of adult schemes, forced to fend for himself while saving the world. Non-stop action, adventure, and a bit of violence. The boys in particular just devour this stuff. My only real gripe is that I wish Anthony Horowitz had been more mindful of his young, impressionable audience while writing it. The constant brand-name dropping drives me nuts! ...

I picked up "Stormbreaker (Alex Rider, Book 1)" for a book club I run at one of the local schools my library supports.Honestly, I was expecting more, considering how popular Anthony Horowitz's "Stormbreaker (Alex Rider, Book 1)" is with younger boys. Plus, it kicked off a whole series and even a movie (though we all know that flopped!).But I just found it kind of boring and way too predictable. It was tough getting the group to talk about it during our meetings because the story is so focused on...

Why do I love Alex Rider books like "Stormbreaker" and similar series like Jason Steed, CHERUB, and Young James Bond? For starters, the main characters are all around my age, and while the plots are a little far-fetched, they offer a fantastic escape. Alex Rider and Jason Steed are both way smarter than most of the adults around them and can drive pretty much anything with wheels. "Stormbreaker" is the first book in the series and one of my absolute favorites. I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed...
