“The only other calling I ever felt was an irrepressible desire to be Captain of my own Starship. I was born in the wrong century and it wasn’t possible, so I chose to explore the universe by writing fiction instead. Books are doors to endless adventure.” -KMMKaren Marie Moning is the #1 NYT bestselling author of the F...

I wasn't expecting too much from *Spell of the Highlander* because it's pretty obvious it was written twenty years ago, but I enjoyed the story and reconnecting with previous protagonists. The truth is, it left me with a good feeling; I really liked Sean and Jess a lot. For a fun Scottish romance novel, it definitely hits the spot!

Cian MacKeltar is a Man (capital M!) among men. With his skill and devastating good looks, this powerful and power-hungry Druid was treated like a god back in his day (the 9th century). That is, until his ambition and the meddling of an evil sorcerer landed him in a Fae mirror – for a whopping 1133 years. As luck would have it, his mirror ends up in Jessi St. James's hands, and she's quickly strong-armed into not only summoning him out of it, but also accepting his protection from assassins. Thes...

4.75 Stars I found a couple of errors. Mostly minor, but one was a real doozy! Fantastic suspense and action. Melt-worthy romantic scenes and steamy adult intimate moments. Best in the series! If you're looking for a thrilling Scottish romance novel, Karen Marie Moning's *Spell of the Highlander* is a must-read. The suspense will keep you on the edge of your seat, and the romance? Absolutely scorching! Definitely the best book review I can give this one, and the best installment in the series...

4.75 Stars - I need an antique mirror, ASAP!Cian MacKeltar... oh, yes please. Where do I even begin? First off, if you haven't read any of the Highlander series, I highly recommend reading books 4-6 first, at the very least. The characters from those stories reappear in *Spell of the Highlander*, and while Karen Marie Moning provides quick summaries, it's nowhere near the level of detail needed to truly grasp the complexities of the world-building.Jessi St. James is a PhD student with absolutely...

These books just keep getting better and better! I simply ADORED \"Spell of the Highlander\" For me, the most important thing while reading a book is connecting with the characters. You can add a storyline, a million storylines that will take your breath away, but if the characters are sh*t (pardon my expression) all the imagination in the world won't do it for me. Well, as you'll figure out, the characters here were far from sh*t XD In this novel, the story took a bit of a backseat. It's about...

While many readers adore Karen Marie Moning's entire Highlander series, I've always found them a bit hit or miss. However, I frequently revisit *Spell of the Highlander*, the last book in the series before the author shifted directions, and it definitely lands in the "hit" category. It's a fantastic read for those seeking captivating time travel romance novels. The story kicks off when our heroine accepts a delivery of a peculiar artifact at work. Jessi St. James, assisting a professor while pur...

Updated review:A few years back, I stumbled upon an amazing author (Monica McCarty). Once I devoured all her books, I asked her for recommendations, and she immediately said Karen Marie Moning. Since my library only had *Spell of the Highlander* by Karen Marie Moning, I decided to give it a shot. Wow! Cian is one seriously hot medieval Highlander. I returned the book ASAP and bought the entire series.*Spell of the Highlander* centers on Cian MacKeltar, a 9th-century druid trapped inside a mirror...

I absolutely adore Karen Marie Moning's *Highlander* series. I haven't gotten around to the first two books yet, but all the others have been five-star reads for me! So, I was really anxious to see if this latest installment, **Spell of the Highlander**, would live up to my sky-high expectations. Well, I'm thrilled to say it's another winner! :) On a Friday night, close to midnight, Jessica St. James, an overworked and utterly exhausted Archeology graduate student at the University of Chicago, ...

Okay, I'm halfway through *Spell of the Highlander* by Karen Marie Moning, and my patience is wearing thin. Here are my issues so far (no spoilers, promise):1) I get that Cian, our hero, is Scottish, but after 1,133 years stuck in a mirror, wouldn't he have ditched the whole Scottish Highlands way of talking for something a bit more modern? Seriously, would he still be saying "doona ken" instead of "do not know" after binge-watching TV and reading books from his mirror-prison for over a millenni...
