Every so often, I enjoy diving into a gripping adventure. Clive Cussler's Dirk Pitt/NUMA books are a fantastic series to explore, and *Shock Wave (Dirk Pitt Adventure)* is an epic tale spanning over 500 pages that I found both interesting and thoroughly entertaining.
The story kicks off with a mysterious event that leaves fish, penguins, and people dead. A cruise ship drops passengers off for a shore excursion on Seymour Island in Antarctica. Suddenly, those on the excursion are struck by inten...

Ad hoc Dirk Pitt solo series read 2023I hemmed and hawed about how to start this review, then questioned whether it truly deserved the four stars I'd initially given it. After some thought, I believe it barely squeaks into the lower end of the four-star range (think 3.50000001 rounded up).Did I not enjoy it quite as much because I've devoured quite a few Dirk Pitt adventures recently, or because *Shock Wave (Dirk Pitt Adventure)* just wasn't as entertaining this time around? Hmm, that's the mill...

Wow, the 13th book in the series. Will it be unlucky for Dirk Pitt? I think we both know that won't be the case.
The formula is set, and you know it by now. So do millions of others around the world, and that's why we buy and read these books. They're fun and a great escape from the same-old same-old.
This book, Shock Wave (Dirk Pitt Adventure) by Clive Cussler, is another in the line. You start out with your historic opening and then move to today. Cars and women and rich tyrants—what's not t...

I wasn't sure what to expect from "Shock Wave (Dirk Pitt Adventure)" because it had mixed reviews, but I was genuinely amazed! In this installment of the Dirk Pitt series, Pitt faces off against a ruthless diamond businessman who has concocted a deadly threat to the world. I found this one to be quite different from the earlier books. Usually, we see Pitt searching for treasure or sunken ships, so this felt like a fresh departure, and in a good way.

A hilarious story about Dirk Pitt, #13. I went down to Hermosa Beach last weekend for some fun at a friend's condo, and brought my bike so I could ride along the sea down the Palos Verdes loop on Sunday morning. I also took a backpack with my jersey, shorts, a change of clothes, some bike tools, a spare tube, an MP3 player, the usual stuff. I also threw in Shock Wave (Dirk Pitt Adventure) and The Culture of Narcissism American Life in an Age of Diminishing Expectations in case I got bored. When ...

OMG, what a fabulous installment in the adventures of Dirk Pitt and Albert Giordino! This is non-stop action from page one all the way through page 537. At no point does this story drag. There is absolutely no filler. This is 500+ pages of pure adrenaline-filled, life-threatening adventure.
Dirk Pitt rescues a cruise ship (and 20+ passengers) circling an island in the Antarctic Ocean after a horrific plague has killed nearly everyone onboard, plus all the animal life surrounding the island. Two...

Dirk Pitt, you magnificent bastard.

I honestly didn't think it was possible, but Clive Cussler has outdone himself with this Dirk Pitt adventure, Shock Wave. What elevates this book above others in the series for me is seeing a different, more vulnerable side of Pitt. He actually falls head-over-heels in love and envisions spending his life with this woman, and that's what really sets Shock Wave apart. It adds a layer of depth to Pitt's character that wasn't quite there before, even in *Pacific Vortex*. Hands down, the best Dirk P...
