3.75✨I *really* enjoyed **Red Dragon** by Thomas Harris. Like, *really really* enjoyed it. It kept me hooked, and I was curious to see how it ended, even though it took me a little while to actually finish (I just haven't had much reading time lately because of work). This is the first book in a series that I've been meaning to dive into for ages, so I'm glad I finally started. It follows Will Graham, an FBI profiler, as he tries to catch a serial killer nicknamed The Tooth Fairy. The pacing was d...

Most people probably know about the world of Hannibal. But for those who don't and have no experience with it, I think it's best to watch *The Silence of the Lambs* first, then move on to the series. The movie is a masterpiece, no question about it. The series is also excellent and covers a very good portion of Thomas Harris's *Red Dragon* in the third season, with high quality. After that, if you want to know more about the character of Dollarhyde, you can go to this book, *Red Dragon*. And ...

Red Dragon opens with Will Graham on the beach behind his Florida home, his wife and stepson nearby. But it's the visiting Jack Crawford who commands Will's attention. Within these first pages, you grasp the violent history of Graham's past with the FBI. He's taken a life and nearly lost his own at the hands of Hannibal Lecter—though we technically shouldn't know that yet (but of course we do, since Thomas Harris wrote this book in 1981). Graham has removed himself from that past, stepping away ...

Thomas Harris's *Red Dragon* is the first book in the Hannibal Lecter series, and my god, what a creepfest to start with! The addiction to this book kicks in right from the first page and keeps you gripped until the very last. We only get glimpses of Hannibal, but when he does appear, you can practically feel the chills creeping up your spine 😲. Francis Dolarhyde (the Red Dragon himself) is a truly terrible, despicable, and creepy psychopath—the kind no one wants to encounter—but he doesn't qu...

5 stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Way back in 1981, Thomas Harris introduced us to a character who's become a legend. Dr. Hannibal Lecter – you know him, he’s been in countless books, movies, and even a TV show.Red Dragon is where we first meet Lecter after he's been caught by FBI profiler Will Graham. Dr. Lecter is locked away in isolation, and now Will Graham needs his help.Another serial killer is on the loose, and Graham has to confront Lecter to try and understand this new threat. The Tooth Fairy has alrea...

I wish I'd read the book, before watching the movies. About halfway through the novel, my copy of *Manhunter* came crashing through the letterbox. The DVD incorporated a 54-page booklet: Michael Mann's HeadGames by Steven Paul Davies. Contents: Introduction. The Making of the Film. An Interview with Brian Cox. The Thomas Harris Sequels. Michael Mann - Cult Hero. Michael Mann Filmography. *Manhunter* Credits. Ex-FBI Profiler, Will Graham, is dragged out of early retirement when a second family...

Absolutely loved this book. "Red Dragon" by Thomas Harris is vivid and incredibly memorable. It's a prequel to "Silence of the Lambs," which is another fantastic read. The movie "Manhunter" was actually based on this novel. Michael Mann directed it, and I'm a huge fan of his movies. While the film is great, the book, as always, is even better. The way Harris portrays the antagonist's point of view is brilliantly realized, and that's what makes "Red Dragon" so chilling. The chase after the antago...

Now that I’ve just finished reading "Red Dragon" by Thomas Harris, I feel the need to scrub parts of my brain with steel wool to remove certain scenes that Harris so rudely embedded there. Thanks a bunch, Tom! Will Graham is cursed with being really good at his job. He's an FBI profiler, and while catching Dr. Hannibal Lecter, Lecter caught him with a big, sharp knife. Will decides that's enough and wisely retires. But nooo! Jack Crawford, Will's former boss, shows up asking for help on a new ...

I remember reading somewhere that Stephen King – never one to shy away from a strong opinion – commented that Thomas Harris could tell a damn good story, but he was a lousy writer. When I started reading Red Dragon, I could kind of see where he was coming from. The writing feels oddly clunky and doesn't have that smooth, stream-like quality good prose possesses as the writer weaves it through the reader's brain. Hell, even plot-wise, it starts off pretty slow, and the book's thriller/suspense e...

When it comes to Hannibal Lecter, I’m one of those music hipster douches that everyone hates because I’ll snootily declare that I knew about him long before most people did and that he’s sucked ever since he got really famous. I’d read this years before *The Silence of the Lambs* came out and led to the excellent film adaptation that skyrocketed Hannibal to the top of pop culture villains. Hell, I’m so Hannibal-hip that I’d caught Brian Cox playing him in Michael Mann’s adaptation *Manhunter*, a...
