In the remote Nevada desert, a high-stakes scientific experiment has spiraled into a nightmare. A swarm of self-replicating nanoparticles—microscopic robots—has escaped the lab. This isn't just a technical glitch; the swarm is intelligent, adaptive, and evolving with lethal speed. Designed to hunt,...

I felt like it was time to dive into another Michael Crichton novel. It’s been a while since I revisited Jurassic Park and The Lost World, and honestly, I rarely pick up books of this length. But Michael Crichton’s raw talent—the way he blends real-world possibilities with such wild, fantastical elements—is truly something awesome to behold. Prey is a solid science fiction thrill ride. While it’s not usually my go-to genre, I ended up really enjoying the technical aspects of the story. The chara...

An absolute page-turner! The science behind emergent behavior and self-replicating nanobots in Michael Crichton's Prey is incredibly well-researched and feels disturbingly plausible. It’s a genuinely chilling, dystopian read when you really stop to think about the implications. I thoroughly enjoyed this sci-fi thriller!

Prey was absolutely the kind of page-turner I needed—fast-paced and thrilling from the very first page to the end. I definitely need to dive into more books by Michael Crichton as soon as possible. If you are looking for a gripping sci-fi thriller, this is a must-read.

I absolutely loved this book. It was incredibly creative, imaginative, and wonderfully strange in the best possible way. I truly believe Michael Crichton is one of the best—if not the absolute best—science fiction authors writing today! I highly recommend reading Prey, and it easily earns a perfect 5-star rating from me. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

In the vast, scorching, and barren deserts of Nevada, a miracle unfolds—but it is anything but good. Back in Silicon Valley, California, life remains as cutthroat as ever. Business is business: the weak fall and the vicious thrive, at least until someone stronger comes along. Jack Forman is currently unemployed, having lost his job six months ago. As it turns out, exposing corruption has hazardous consequences; companies don't take kindly to whistleblowers. Being out of the game for so long in s...

A tour de force regarding the potential escalation of nanotech settings, if we ignore the characters for a moment. Prey by Michael Crichton feels like a mash-up of every 'grey goo' trope we’ve seen in sci-fi a thousand times—from the massive to the microscopic—leaving the reader constantly guessing which scenario will unfold next or what insane evolution these nanobots will dream up in the following chapter. It’s hard to squander a perfect nanotech plot, but Crichton pushes it a bit too far. He ...

Michael Crichton is arguably the king of speculative science fiction. From dinosaurs and diseases to genetic engineering, and now in the case of Prey, nanotechnology. If you read a Crichton book and don't find yourself thinking, "Damn! Science is terrifying!" then you’ve missed the point entirely. This wasn't my absolute favorite of his, but it was still a very strong read. The thrills, the mystery, and the sense of dread all combined for a pretty intense experience. One issue I had, however, was...

If someone had recommended a book to me about shape-shifting creatures that feed on human flesh to spawn and have a central mothership nest in the middle of a desert, I think I would have never, ever picked it up. In fact, I probably would have recommended Twilight to that person out of sheer spite. Yes, I honestly would have picked Twilight over this kind of book in a heartbeat.Well, turns out those would have been the biggest mistakes of my life. Never judge a book by its cover, or its blurb—s...

“We think we know what we are doing. We have always thought so. We never seem to acknowledge that we have been wrong in the past, and so might be wrong in the future. Instead, each generation writes off earlier errors as the result of bad thinking by less able minds—and then confidently embarks on fresh errors of its own.”Michael Crichton always seemed to have a bone to pick regarding the misuse or abuse of technology. Jurassic Park, The Andromeda Strain, Congo, Next, and others are all quintess...

I remember when I first learned that Jurassic Park was actually a book—that was sometime last year. Well, I read it this year, and Jurassic Park turned out to be one of the best books I've ever read. And then I saw Prey by Michael Crichton (the genius behind Jurassic Park) and figured, "There's no way this is as good as Jurassic Park." After reading it, though, I found out that Prey is another home run by Michael Crichton, a spectacular book comparable to Jurassic Park, and probably in my top th...
