This isn't a one-star review; it's half a star. And that's a generous half star. I snagged *Out of Time* by Monique Martin as a BookBub bargain, but I still feel ripped off. The blurb set expectations that were nowhere near met. A caveat: I don't like romance novels, especially the Harlequin type. And I'm not a fan at all of *Fifty Shades of Grey*—not because of the subject matter, but because I don't think it was handled well. But I digress.
When I chose *Out of Time*, I was expecting a time-t...

I was initially drawn in by the premise of "Out of Time," but that feeling didn't last. A professor and his graduate student assistant secretly in love... okay. Twenty-year age gap? Whatever. A trip back in time with no way to return for six weeks? Excellent. But that's where Monique Martin's "Out of Time" lost me.Monique Martin spends chapter after chapter glossing over actual action, focusing instead on how wonderfully the characters perceive each other. Simon spends his time pushing away the ...

Based on the blurb, I went into *Out of Time* by Monique Martin expecting a cool blend of time travel, historical mystery, and maybe a dash of romance. And yeah, those elements are *there*, but honestly, I felt like I was reading a pretty standard romance novel that could've been set anywhere, at any point in history. The time travel and mystery felt like afterthoughts, underdeveloped and kinda tacked on. The story kicks off in the present day, with an occult professor and his assistant getting ...

Hmm, I think I must have missed whatever the other reviewers found enjoyable about the 'romance' in "Out of Time" by Monique Martin. While it's fair to say I generally avoid the romance genre, I'm not averse to a bit of sexual tension to keep a good storyline bubbling along. Unfortunately, I was already getting a bit fed up with these two characters when one of them pulled the inevitable 'I cannot let them get close to me because I'm such a terrible person' nonsense. It feels like such a cop-out...

I absolutely loved "Out of Time" by Monique Martin! I went in without any real expectations, and I'm genuinely blown away. The writing is superb, flowing so smoothly that you can't help but get completely swept up in the romance between Simon and Elizabeth. It's got everything you could possibly want in a work of fiction – suspense, mystery, romance, time travel, the paranormal, religion, history, gangsters, humor, action, and adventure. The two main characters are incredibly easy to connect wit...

This is such a fantastic romantic story with a cool twist. And who doesn’t love a good twist! We've got Professor Simon Cross, who teaches a really engaging class on vampires, zombies, and other supernatural creatures. Tons of students take his class because they find it so interesting and fun. Then there's Elizabeth, his student assistant. They both have feelings for each other but haven't acted on them for a bunch of reasons…like, Professor Cross is 40 and Elizabeth is in her twenties, plus he...

Monique Martin's *Out of Time* is a captivating time travel romance that throws you right into the lives of Simon Cross, an Occult Studies professor, and his assistant, Elizabeth West. One evening, while delving into Simon's newly inherited possessions, they stumble upon a pocket watch that once belonged to his grandfather. This isn't just any watch; it's a time-traveling "vehicle"! Suddenly, they're ripped from their safe, modern California surroundings and plunged into the bustling summer of 1...

Okay, so here's the deal: I hit the big 4-0 last week, and yeah, I know, 40 is the new 30, and age is just a number (blah blah blah, all the usual birthday card clichés), but when I look in the mirror, I see the grey hairs are multiplying like rabbits, I've got these new little lines around my mouth that weren't there before, and my boobs seem to be staging a slow-motion descent (damn it all). And the worst part? My eyes get tired if I try to read half the night. That is, if I don't just conk ou...

Kindle is opening my horizons, and Out of Time is a great example of the wonderful treasures you can find if you get lucky. Despite the 'paranormal romance' subtitle, Out of Time is really more of a time travel romance with a paranormal complication as part of the conflict than an actual paranormal romance since neither of the leads goes bump in the night. But it is a really good time travel romance.
An accidental trip to the past lands Professor Simon Cross and his graduate assistant, Elizabet...

I've never read a romance novel before *Out of Time*, but I'm really glad I gave this one a shot. I enjoyed it from its great premise at the start to its suspenseful finish. I think the strongest element of *Out of Time* is the writing itself, particularly the dialogue and the characterization of the two main characters (as well as, of course, the romance). Even when there were aspects of the book that I questioned, and that didn't happen often, the strength of the writing and the tension in the...
