I wanted to get a feel for the earlier books, having jumped into this series a couple of years ago. And no, I’m not planning on reading or listening to the entire back catalog—that’s, like, twenty books! I enjoy this series now and then, but I don't think I love it enough to binge. It was nice to finally meet Stephanie, Morelli, Ranger, Lula, and Grandma Mazur in *One for the Money* by Janet Evanovich! These earlier *One for the Money* books have different narrators and aren't as good as Lorelei ...

Janet Evanovich is an author I've seen mentioned a lot lately, and her name stuck with me. I recently discovered her Stephanie Plum series, and honestly, I'm wondering how I didn't know about it before! If I had, I definitely would've started it sooner. But, better late than never, right? We're introduced to Stephanie Plum, a broke, recently unemployed, and divorced woman desperately needing a job. There's a bounty on Joe Morelli, so she decides to become a bounty hunter and arrest him. Their hi...

This is a humorous cozy mystery, and the first book in Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series. I've been reading the Stephanie Plum books out of order, and I have to say, "One for the Money" is fantastic. It shows how Stephanie gets into bounty hunting and how she meets her two love interests. Though, I will say, this one isn't quite as laugh-out-loud funny as some of the later books in the series that I've read. If you're looking for a fun, lighthearted mystery book review, definitely check ou...

Ah, the '90s. Bike shorts, slouchy socks with high-top Reeboks, scrunchies, day-glow. Remember those days? Stephanie Plum is a New Jersey '90s girl who's out of work. She sweet-talks her way into a job working for her cousin, who's a bail bondsman. Her job is to catch this guy – who took her virginity and who she's known most of her life – and turn him in to the police. He was a cop who supposedly shot an unarmed man and skipped out on his bail. If she catches him, she'll get $10,000. And she's ...

It’s Gender Reversal Day here on Goodreads as I review *One for the Money* by Janet Evanovich. I'm diving into this book review with a unique perspective! So, Samuel Plum is an underwear buyer for a retail store who has recently lost his job. Desperate for cash, he blackmails his pervert cousin, who runs a bail bonds agency, into letting him go after a cop named Jane Morellie who was accused of murder and then skipped. There may be a personal revenge motive for Samuel in this because Jane is the ...

Sometimes you just need a book like this. With writing that's nothing to write home about and a plot as transparent as glass, it'll take your mind off the heavier stuff in life for a bit. If you're looking for an easy, breezy read, Janet Evanovich's "One for the Money" might just be the ticket. Don't expect high literature, but do expect a fun distraction. A great choice when you want to switch off and enjoy a lighthearted crime novel.

Pure gold when it comes to humor! Four unforgettable characters: Stephanie Plum, Joe Morelli, Ranger, and Grandma Mazur. Let's recap, shall we?Stephanie: Your average girl... with a sharp wit, a sassy attitude, tons of determination, and a complete inability to recognize her own limitations. But you'll find yourself rooting for her every single time!Joe: Honest. Smart. Good-looking. Apparently amazing in bed. Knows his food. Wants to make Stephanie happy. But he's also aware of his boundaries.Ra...

A genuinely funny and light-hearted read featuring a likeable heroine who never loses sight of her goal: earning $10,000 as a bounty hunter. It's just too bad the target is an old flame, but hey – she's still got a score to settle with him....
This first book in the Stephanie Plum series, One for the Money by Janet Evanovich, instantly made me a fan! I'm definitely buckled up and ready for an enjoyable ride. If you're looking for funny book reviews, start here!

Drivel, drivel, drivel. To keep myself entertained, I made a top 5 list of things that should NEVER appear in any future book club selection, based on *One for the Money* by Janet Evanovich:1- A heroine who constantly wears spandex shorts (I realize this was written in 1994, but still... the '80s were over. No excuses!).2- The phrase "crotch wrinkles." Used in a sentence: "By five o'clock I was feeling antsy, and my rayon skirt had serious crotch wrinkles." Seriously?!3- A scene where a man mast...

I. LOVE. THESE. BOOKS. Seriously! I'm obsessed with this series. You know that feeling when your brain's telling you it's ridiculous, that there *must* be a hundred books with better writing, a better mystery, whatever? Well, I don't care! This series is my ultimate guilty pleasure. I was hooked from the first page of *One for the Money* by Janet Evanovich, and I've read the entire series so far – even all those silly little spin-offs. I could honestly skip those mini-books. They always feel lik...
