Title: N or M?Author: Agatha ChristieGenre: Mystery, EspionagePublication Year: 1941Review: Book #3 of the Tommy and Tuppence mystery series by Agatha Christie is something special. It's not just a mystery novel; it also hits all the right notes as a spy thriller. Tommy and Tuppence are middle-aged now, empty-nesters with grown kids, veterans of the first World War itching to get involved in the second. Tommy gets recruited for an undercover gig: he has to pose as a widower to sniff out traitoro...

It wasn't bad, this time the protagonists are the married couple Tommy and Tuppence, who we already know from their adventures. These stories are more focused on espionage, and *N or M?* by Agatha Christie is no exception. The truth is that this time they were, or at least one of them was, in trouble, and I did feel that some things were a bit far-fetched...Rating: 6/10Synopsis: The plot unfolds after the outbreak of World War II. Tommy and Tuppence Beresford are bored with their daily lives whe...

Not your typical Agatha Christie murder mystery; instead, this is a World War II espionage thriller starring the husband-and-wife duo, Tommy and Tuppence. Think more suspense, less drawing-room drama!
But don't worry, there are still plenty of red herrings in *N or M?* to keep you guessing until the very end. If you love a good spy novel with plenty of twists, Agatha Christie's *N or M?* is a must-read!

The best couple in the Christieverse.I'm disappointed at least half the time by Agatha Christie's portrayal of couples. The worst examples for me were a woman who happily abandoned her successful business for marriage, and another who felt her heart flutter with love when her man demonstrated his affection by trying to strangle her. However, in N or M?, Christie absolutely nailed it.Tommy's respect for Tuppence is genuinely amazing; he doesn't expect her to sit at home meekly, and he's quite prou...

Agatha Christie Book Reading Challenge

BOOK 34 :- SEPT 2021

3 STARS
Alright, another one down! "N or M?" by Agatha Christie... three stars. It was a decent read, kept me guessing, but honestly, not one of her absolute best. A solid addition to my Agatha Christie challenge, though! On to the next mystery novel!

I had a bit of a bumpy start with Tommy and Tuppence in THE SECRET ADVERSARY, but I was thrilled to connect with them much better in N or M?. This book strikes an interesting balance; it's both a classic Agatha Christie thriller and a proper whodunnit, and that balance really worked for me. I also think the fact that N or M? is fairly short for a novel played to its advantage – it didn't get bogged down in too much spy nonsense or far-fetched explanations, which I think was a smart move by Agath...

Agatha Christie introduced Tommy and Tuppence in one of her early works, *The Secret Adversary*. That story was set during World War I, and her detectives were a young, adventurous couple back then. The action of *N or M?* unfolds during World War II. Tommy and Tuppence are now middle-aged and feeling a bit left out of the action. But despite their age, when Tommy gets the chance to go undercover and hunt down German spies, he jumps at it. Not to be outdone, Tuppence follows him anyway. Ultim...

2023 Re-ReadThis month’s Appointment with Agatha book and a very pleasant change from Poirot. I've had enough of him for a while, so I was glad to see Tommy and Tuppence in my reading queue. N or M? is a rather ridiculous spy story but still fun if you don't take it too seriously. It's been five years since I last read it, during which I seem to have purged the pertinent details from my memory. I only recalled a few details: our main characters being frustrated at being kept out of significant w...

While I thoroughly enjoyed and remained engrossed for most of the reading experience, I must admit that it ultimately fell short of completely satisfying me. From the very beginning, Agatha Christie's typical elegant writing style provided momentum and a rich tapestry of mystery. Like almost all her books I've read, the central mystery wasn't a murder but rather a spy hunt and a battle of wits between spies, lending an innovative aspect to the unfolding events. However, unlike other cases where ...

I'll be honest, I wasn't completely sold on "N or M?" at first. But as the story progressed, I found myself constantly guessing. Even when presented with seemingly obvious clues, my convictions wavered, and I couldn't be certain about my suspicions regarding the antagonist. By the end, I was completely captivated. It's everything you could want from an Agatha Christie novel. There's masterful misdirection, nail-biting suspense, and a satisfyingly thorough explanation of all the facts. Normally,...
