"Your past is my Future"
Lightning doesn't strike twice. That is, unless your name is Laura Shane.I've been on a bit of a Dean Koontz kick lately. I've read some cracking books by this author: Phantoms, Twilight Eyes, and Night Chills. All dark and edgy thrillers with a touch of horror. But all good things must come to an end. If I were to use one word for this novel, it would be average. In Lightning, Koontz gives us a sci-fi romance. Not exactly my genre of choice, but I'm always up for broa...

I feel about Dean Koontz's *Lightning* the same way I feel about a budget cream doughnut. On the surface, it looks delicious, but as soon as you bite into it, you realize it's all mock cream and sickly additives: a brief, guilty pleasure followed by hours of indigestion and regret.
This is also the second book recommended to me by an old friend. The first was a DNF (Did Not Finish), so I thought I’d give him a second chance. Feel free to leave a comment if you think I should give him a third.

Absolutely fantastic! This is hands down the best thing I've read by Dean Koontz! If you're looking for thrilling book reviews, grab "Lightning" – you won't be disappointed.

Why aren't you reading Dean Koontz? You probably have your reasons. Mine used to be something like, 'Good grief, this guy churns out forty books a year, and they all seem a bit…rubbish.' Like everyone else, I first stumbled across his novels because they were right next to the Stephen King books at the library. Clever marketing, even if it was completely accidental. There were books with evil clowns on the cover, books with scary kids. It all felt a bit 'fiction-by-numbers' to me, so I never pic...

What a fantastic story! I found myself thinking about it long after I finished reading. At times, it felt like a real roller coaster – frightening, intense, and utterly un-put-downable until I reached the end of each crisis. The central narrative follows Laura's life from birth to adulthood, with a mysterious man appearing at crucial moments to rescue her from disaster. Laura isn't some helpless damsel, either; she makes smart choices. Honestly, this is one of those rare books where the less you ...

Lightning is one of my go-to books. It's a book I read over and over when I find myself in a reading slump... for a couple of reasons: 1) I've read it so many times, I don't have to concentrate very much to get through it again... and, 2) It gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling. Why? It has two of my book boyfriends in it. What is a book boyfriend, you may ask???.... Or may not ask, but I'll tell you anyway... A book boyfriend is a character I fell in love with at some point in my life. I have book bo...

Dean Koontz's *Lightning* is a wild ride, blending science fiction (think time travel!) with heart-pounding suspense. Honestly, I couldn't put it down. This book is a total page-turner!The story centers around Laura Shane, following her from birth to adulthood (around 30, I think). Then there's Stefan, a mysterious "guardian angel" who pops up throughout her life to save her bacon. Both characters are incredibly well-developed and feel so real. I also really loved Thelma, Laura's childhood best ...

Time paradox.Every time a bolt of lightning streaks through the sky, a time traveler gets his wings. I read Dean Koontz's Lightning almost 30 years ago, loved it, and wanted to see if it still held up.Guess what? It totally did.I was honestly worried it would feel super dated, especially the relationships, but Koontz surprised me. I barely had to remind myself that Lightning was first published in 1989.The basic gist is that a time traveler keeps showing up throughout this young woman's life, st...

A shocking Lightning!!!
A BUNCH OF GENRES
This was the third novel that I read by Dean Koontz (back in 1992).Back then (1992), I read the book in a Spanish translation because I was still learning to read in English. This is another great novel by Dean Koontz that merges a ton of genres......not just the horror/thriller you expect from a Koontz book......but also fascinating science fiction concepts, along with elements of military action, espionage, and even romance.

I used to be a die-hard Dean Koontz fan; I think some of his books in the past five years haven't been quite as good, but *Lightning* remains in my top ten. I still have my well-worn copy, and I'm looking forward to reading it for the third time. Like some of his other books (especially *Intensity*), Koontz has created a compelling lead character and a plot that's complex but easy to follow. There are Nazis. There's time travel. There are big guns. It might sound like a strange mix, but it works...
