Series Read 2024 - 2025As always, *Lies, Damned Lies, and History (The Chronicles of St. Mary's Book 7)* is a fun romp through time with a group of truly enjoyable characters. Max, now heavily pregnant, manages a few easy "trips" before she finally has to give it up. However, as usual, things go sideways for the tea-swilling historians, especially after visiting a 6th-century hill fort on the Welsh border.Max and the crew land smack-dab in the middle of an evacuation, with all the local villager...

Book #7 in Jodi Taylor's crazy St. Mary's series... I absolutely love these books. If you're after profound meaning and deadly seriousness, steer clear – you might have an allergic reaction! But if you want a laugh-out-loud read, time-hopping adventures through history, and glimpses into engaging relationships, sprinkled with moments of pure adrenaline and satisfyingly quick resolutions, then you'll adore this. It's a series with extra stories slotted in between the main books (like 3.5, 2.75, e...

I've really grown attached to this series, which is kind of amazing considering that around book three, I was ready to give up on it entirely. Not only have the plotlines gotten significantly better, but Jodi Taylor has figured out how to create drama without resorting to the same old communication breakdowns between the love interests. The best part of these stories for me has always been the moments in time that the characters visit and seeing historical events in a new light. The most signific...

*** 4.44 ***This series is pure delight! After all the horrors of the first several books, the new timeline restart has really made a big difference, especially when it comes to Max and Leon's relationship. More precisely, it has improved dramatically! Max is pretty much the same old wild and crazy hilarious Historian, but Leon has been transformed into the best husband ever! He has developed the miraculous ability to be able to separate his personal and professional personas, and I think this i...

Rating: 4* out of fiveOh, what a happy sigh. Reading a book in a series is a special joy within the broader literary world. As a devoted series reader, I crave the comfort of familiar faces, but I also need the story to keep moving forward, which means our beloved characters have to endure trials, tribulations, and all sorts of torment. It’s a bit like being married, or at least how I remember that exceedingly unnatural institution: the fun comes from the *schadenfreude* of watching maximum chaos...

This rollercoaster event was proudly presented to you by Oscar the ringworm and carnivorous goats. :DInterestingly enough, *Lies, Damned Lies, and History (The Chronicles of St. Mary's Book 7)* and the events within strongly reminded me of book #1 in the series. What I mean is that there were a number of twists and turns, throwing us around (not just through time) and making it impossible to breathe or foresee where things were headed. This is a book review where you need to strap yourself in!In...

I'm already counting down the days until the next installment! Jodi Taylor's *Lies, Damned Lies, and History (The Chronicles of St. Mary's Book 7)* is another absolute winner. As far as historical fiction book reviews go, this series consistently delivers.

Buddy Read with the Honorary Historians of BB&B.The way this book started had me chewing my nails for about half of it. Just when I was taking a breath, despairing about what my manicurist would say at my next appointment, things somehow managed to get even worse. By this point in the series, I really should have known better than to let my guard down.If you've gotten to this point in The Chronicles of St. Mary's, you're already familiar with the rather formulaic way the plot develops: a jum...

What can I even say at this point?! If you're seven books into the Chronicles of St. Mary's, you already know if you love the madcap shenanigans, the rapid-fire witty banter, the way a good cuppa seems to fix everything, and the plain old FUN that Jodi Taylor's books deliver. And I definitely do! "Lies, Damned Lies, and History" is another fantastic installment. If you're looking for a fun historical fiction book review, look no further!

What? A total guilty pleasure that doesn't have much to do with romance, vampires, or werewolves? One that reads so easily, so effortlessly, and so addictively you might want to classify it as a Class A substance? And OMG, we're ALL able to abuse this stuff?Yeah, we are. Just for the price of a book or a whole damn series. Including short stories. We can GET OUR FIX.What's even better? Oh yeah, it's sci-fi, time travel, and SO MUCH HISTORY for all us history buffs. :) Total history-porn.Oh, and ...
