Margot and her mother have always lived beside the woods. Margot's days are spent quietly in their cottage, awaiting the arrival of "strays," as her mother calls them—those who've wandered too far. Her mother welcomes these lost souls, offering wine and warmth, before dismembering them with vegetabl...

Well done and rare, Lamb: A Gothic Fable sinks its teeth into you slowly, then tears right through to the bone. 🥩 At first, I felt like I was chewing on the same bite over and over; the first half of the novel repeats its rhythm: Margot, Mama, strays, dinner. Wash the blood, rinse, repeat. But oh, does the second half sear. This is not a story for the squeamish. If you're looking for dark book reviews, look no further. It’s a tenderloin of trauma, plated with psychological dread and a side of mo...

2.5 stars. The word that springs to mind is 'try-hard.' Also, I'm genuinely begging someone to please explain to Lucy Rose what "hot and bothered" actually means. Seriously, someone stage an intervention about the overwrought prose in *Lamb: A Gothic Fable*. As far as dark fiction goes, this just felt forced.

Maybe I need to face the fact that I'll never truly embrace the cannibal-loving corner of the horror community. DNF'd Lamb: A Gothic Fable by Lucy Rose at 20%.

Okay, so I was totally ready for a feminist fairy tale about a cannibalistic mother and daughter. I mean, what's not to love about that idea? And it started off great, with Margot, the kid (later a teen), narrating in a way that feels like classic Jacob & Wilhelm Grimm. She's growing up in a secluded house in the woods with a mom who picks up lost kids and, well, slaughters them for dinner. It's creepy, and the tension builds when Eden arrives, a new "stray" who becomes Margot's rival for her mo...

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.25I absolutely adore a cannibalistic book brimming with metaphors about love and grief, and let me tell you, "Lamb: A Gothic Fable" delivered PERFECTLY. This was a truly claustrophobic read, tracing a daughter's coming-of-age alongside her mother's cannibalistic urges. It felt incredibly isolating and remote, carrying these raw, underlying emotions, all while remaining utterly unique, eloquent, and breathtakingly beautiful. The ending? It left me staring at a blank wall for a solid two ...

2 stars.Way too visceral, way too repetitive, and just way too long. The final 20% had some good moments, but wading through the rest felt like a total slog. Maybe I'm strange, but cannibalism really isn't my thing. It feels like one of those books people praise because it's a bit edgy, a bit controversial. Definitely not my cup of hemlock tea, or slice of people pie, for that matter. If you're looking for dark fantasy book reviews, this one just didn't land for me. Lucy Rose's *Lamb: A Gothic F...

I know this might sound a little twisted, but I'm more into books about societal cannibalism than the domestic kind, and *Lamb: A Gothic Fable* definitely falls into the latter category. This book uses cannibalism as a symbol for the need for love and acceptance; that intense desire to be seen and wanted for who you are manifests as an outward desire to consume, to fill that never-ending void. I feel like this whole 'cannibalism as love' concept is really trending right now and popping up a lot ...

About to put on Eat Your Young by Hozier and just... stare at a wall while contemplating Lucy Rose's *Lamb: A Gothic Fable*. Honestly, that feels like the only appropriate response after finishing this book. If you're looking for a dark, atmospheric read, *Lamb: A Gothic Fable* delivers in spades. Definitely one for the best gothic fiction book reviews of the year.

Where do I even start with Lamb: A Gothic Fable? This book… it’s just wrecked me in the best way possible. Lucy Rose has crafted a gorgeously written, horrific, and utterly heartbreaking tale about a girl named Margot and her mama. I swear, Lamb: A Gothic Fable has permanently altered my brain chemistry and the way I see the world. I spent the entire time either holding my breath or flat-out sobbing. There wasn't a single moment where I wanted to put it down. Honestly, I even forced myself to s...
