Knight's Wyrd by Debra Doyle captures the spirit of classic fairy tale adventures, and it does so brilliantly. The story follows Will Odosson, a lord’s son who, on the eve of his knighting ceremony, receives a chilling prophecy: he will meet his death before the year is out. Even with a chance to run from this grim fate, Will chooses to stand his ground and prove he is a knight worth his salt.
The adventure that follows is fast-paced yet remains incredibly smooth, packing a missing princess, da...

Knight's Wyrd by Debra Doyle is the perfect story. It follows a destiny misunderstood that drove a knight to be even braver than he already was. Supported by an apprentice wizard and some loyal friends, this is a must-read fantasy adventure. I absolutely loved this book.

If I had read Knight's Wyrd by Debra Doyle when I was 12, I would have been absolutely obsessed with it. This is a must-read fantasy book for any young reader looking for their next great adventure.

Honestly, Knight's Wyrd by Debra Doyle started off so strong for the first 70% of the book, but then it completely devolved into pure silliness. What a shame for such a promising fantasy read.

I had incredibly high expectations going into Knight's Wyrd by Debra Doyle, because the blurb sounds exactly like the sort of thing I would adore, and I am so delighted to say I was not disappointed. I devoured this book in one sitting on the train to London, and it is clearly written by people who are very confident in not only the narrative they are building but also the medieval tropes and concepts they are playing with. An absolute banger of a fantasy novel.

I wish I’d spent more time savoring this book—it was such a treat, especially since it follows the roadmap of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, which is an absolute favorite of mine.
I know for sure I’ll be picking up Knight's Wyrd by Debra Doyle again in a couple of months. If you are looking for a fantastic fantasy book review, this is a must-read for anyone who loves Arthurian-inspired tales.

This novel is slim, fast-paced, and full of medieval weirdness (or should I say wyrdness?) that makes it compelling and well worth a read. For me, Knight's Wyrd by Debra Doyle was the perfect combination of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms by George R. R. Martin and a Hayao Miyazaki movie. When the story starts, it appears to be a typical pseudo-England fantasy tale. If your edition has a map, you’ll see it’s all just the United Kingdom but slightly renamed, with some mentions of trolls and mermai...

Knight's Wyrd by Debra Doyle isn't for everyone, and honestly, I wish it could have been a bit weirder. Still, it fits right in with current trends, sitting comfortably alongside works like the film The Green Knight. Death is introduced as a looming presence very early on, which transforms what could have been a straightforward knight’s tale into something much more thought-provoking. If you're looking for a solid fantasy book review, this is a fascinating read. Overall, I’ve been really enjoyin...

The day before his knighting, Will joins a hunt, only to lose his way in the woods after chasing a vanishing white deer. While searching for the path home, he encounters two outlaws tormenting an old woman for her pig; in the ensuing struggle, he is forced to kill them. Having saved the woman, she points him toward safety, and he arrives just in time for his vigil. It is there that the local wizard appears to reveal his 'wyrd,' or fate: he is destined to face death before the year is out, leavin...

This is the story of Will Odosson, who is just about to be knighted when he encounters a mysterious stranger who reveals his wyrd, or destiny: he is fated to face death before he can ever inherit his father’s title. Naturally, Will is horrified, but he bravely rides off to visit his betrothed, intent on telling her that he cannot marry her after all—it wouldn't be fair to her, knowing his life is effectively on the clock. What starts as a straightforward quest quickly spirals into something far ...
