Uh-oh. Why did I break my promise to myself and read Insurgent (Divergent Series, Book 2) by Veronica Roth? Was it my curiosity? Well, I need to be more careful. After all, curiosity killed the cat - and I'm a Leo. Uh-oh. Now I'm afraid that this book may have made me use up a few of my allotted nine lives. O_O Welcome back to the senseless world of dystopian Chicago where you are only allowed to have one personality trait, which apparently is determined in what seems to be an equivalent of a 5-...

2.5 stars Meh. That's the best way to describe *Insurgent (Divergent Series, Book 2)* by Veronica Roth. After the adrenaline rush of *Divergent*, this sequel felt...flat. Tris's constant angst got old fast, and the plot meandered like a lost tourist. Roth introduces some interesting ideas about factions and societal control, but they get buried under a mountain of teenage drama. If you're looking for thrilling YA dystopian novels, this one just doesn't quite hit the mark. I was hoping for more ...

I want to give a big, old round of applause to HarperTEEN and their insane marketing campaign. Bravo. That's not mockery, but a legit salute. I sincerely have to give it up to you for convincing me that I *had* to own this book. I was caught up and boarded the Twitter hype train as it drove me round and round the blogosphere's Factions. (BTW, I still don't know who drives the damn train.) So, by the time I stepped into my local bookstore and laid eyes on *Insurgent (Divergent Series, Book 2)* I ...

\"People, I have discovered, are layers and layers of secrets.\" Umm, no honey. You're thinking of something else... Of the three books, *Insurgent* is the long-neglected and likely disturbed middle child. It's the *Divergent* series' awkward phase. Not as fun as the first nor as smart as the third. Doesn't contribute or stand out. Essentially, it's just there, staring at us and wanting us to notice it. The \"plot\": Tris & Co. are betrayed, run to a new faction, cue long description of n...

Amity 4EVER. The five-faction society has reached a point of no return. Abnegation wiped out, Erudite and Dauntless battling each other and everyone else, Amity and Candor dragged into a war they never asked for; and from the shadows, the rising Factionless, those without a faction. Tris, the runaway Divergent, along with Four and a handful of refugees, are trying to survive in a world hellbent on destroying itself completely. This was an excellent sequel, although not quite as good as that perfe...

4.5 starsWhen I first read Divergent, I was completely blown away. I loved it and really enjoyed it. However, a small part of me couldn't quite agree with all the reviews comparing the series to The Hunger Games. I don't know, I felt like I needed to see or feel something more to be totally convinced it deserved to be mentioned in the same breath as THG, or that it could be as amazing.Well, Veronica Roth, you nailed it! **Insurgent** just convinced me that this series is freaking AH-MA-ZING! I w...

The sheer magnitude of my disappointment likely explains why I can't bring myself to give this more than two stars. I realize *Divergent* isn't exactly a literary masterpiece; the dystopian world is illogical, the Dauntless are just absurd people jumping off trains to prove something... but, for me, it was still wildly entertaining. It was fast-paced, action-packed, Tris was delightfully badass, and the romance between her and Four enhanced the main story without overshadowing it. *Insurgent* fa...

FINALLY, the book is here! After months of waiting, I managed to snag **Insurgent** on the day of its release, and thank goodness for that!**Warning: There will be no spoilers for Insurgent, only for Divergent.**Having not been immersed in the Divergent world since the first book came out last year, I had qualms about diving headfirst into **Insurgent** without refreshing myself with the basic events that happened prior to this novel. However, having neither the time nor the inclination for rere...
