I experienced this as an (abridged) audiobook.Listening to Jonathan Frakes' narration, complete with cheesy sound effects and some seriously '90s softcore porn music cues during the *loooooove* scenes, had me grinning from ear to ear. Honestly, I don't know how someone who *didn't* grow up loving *Star Trek: TNG* would react to *Imzadi* by Peter David, but I imagine the word to describe it would start with "cr" and rhyme with "hinge"... For a **book review** that's honest, I'd say this is not fo...

So, apparently *Imzadi* by Peter David was a massive bestseller back in 1992. Honestly? I just don't get the hype. Maybe I'm late to the party here. I was on a mission to find the best Star Trek novels according to fans, and I stumbled across a few at my local used bookstore. *Imzadi* was one of three I grabbed, and as my first foray into Star Trek tie-in novels, I probably could've picked a better one. Or, maybe the cultural moment just passed me by. It *is* thirty years old, and it came out sm...

Peter David is a master storyteller. His work on other franchises, like the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has been consistently amazing, and he completely blew me away with this *Star Trek* novel, *Imzadi*, which spans vast stretches of time and space. The only thing stopping me from giving it a perfect score is the content itself, mainly the sex and excessive swearing. If you're looking for *Star Trek* book reviews, be aware of this content.EDIT: Not only was the amount of sexual content higher th...

Back in 1996, this book ranked #3 out of 145 for the year, but it was *my* top pick. *Imzadi* is centered around one of the most important elements in Star Trek history: the Guardian of Forever (yes, the very same one from that Emmy-winning Star Trek episode featuring Joan Collins!). 'Imzadi' means 'beloved' in Betazed, and this book will be beloved by Deanna Troi and Riker fans across all timelines... even the wrong ones. If you're looking for great Star Trek book reviews, pick this one up.

2.5 StarsEven though I've seen pretty much every episode of TNG back in the day, I never really got into reading the novels. I'm not usually one for expanded universe stuff. But *Imzadi* by Peter David was picked for a book club, so I figured I'd give it a shot.I'll admit, it started off well enough, even though I kinda figured out the likely plot within the first few pages. I did enjoy seeing the alternate future, with Captain Crusher doing the Picard jacket tug, Commodore (I think) Data, and a...

I remember watching Star Trek with my dad when I was a kid. It would come on after school, and I loved it. The adventures, the crazy escapes, the close calls... It was good stuff. I had SUCH a crush on Will Riker when I was younger. Not baby-faced Riker, but more mature, bearded Riker. Man I loved him. (And to this day, I love a man with facial hair. But that's beside the point. LOL)As much as I loved the show, I'm not much of a tie-in fiction reader. I love Star Wars too (yeah, I swing both way...

I was looking forward to *Imzadi* for two reasons: I'd heard great things about Peter David as an author, and I was eager to delve into the origins of the Riker/Troi relationship. David's non-linear narrative and the time travel aspects were inventive enough to hold my attention until the very end. He clearly has a knack for crafting plot and action. However, the central romance in *Imzadi* just didn't click for me at all. Their story felt riddled with tired clichés, modern gender stereotypes di...

My absolute favorite Star Trek novel (and, naturally, the reason I'm such a devoted Imzadi shipper). I own it in paperback...hardcover...and as an audiobook...

4.0 stars. Nobody does Star Trek quite like Peter David, and *Imzadi* is another superb example of why. This is what happens when you take a richly defined universe like Star Trek and pair it with a writer who truly knows their craft. If you're looking for great Star Trek book reviews, definitely check out *Imzadi* by Peter David!

My personal favorite Star Trek novel of all time!!! And I believe that if I had to choose just one novel from all the ones I've ever read, this one would have to be my absolute favorite. SOMETHING FOR EVERYBODY This book has it all... drama, action, romance, mystery, science fiction, time travel, alternate realities, etc......well, you couldn't ask for more!!!When I read the synopsis on the back cover (back then, in 1993), while deciding whether to buy the book or not, I was amazed. And when...
