Wow, I was looking for a darker read that would keep me guessing, and *Hunting Annabelle* definitely delivered! This book ticked all the boxes for suspense.Sean Suh is our main character. We know he has violent tendencies and spent three years in a psychiatric corrections unit for killing someone. His controlling mother heavily medicates him, keeping him in a stupor. Is he schizophrenic, or is it the medication?Sean meets Annabelle at 4 Corners, a leisure park he visits daily to draw tourists. S...

This book will make your mind spin and your palms sweat—a total edge-of-your-seat ride into crazy town!Oh, how I love diving into the mind of a psychopath! Although, with Sean in Wendy Heard's *Hunting Annabelle*, you're never quite sure if he's a psychopath or a victim. That's what really sets *Hunting Annabelle* apart: you're constantly questioning whether you should be sympathetic toward the bad guy or the good guy... but good or bad, Sean is definitely an odd duck.Sean has recently been rele...

FIVE STARSSean Suh. The name might not exactly trip off the tongue, but who cares? It works. Sean Suh is the main character, our UNRELIABLE NARRATOR, in Wendy Heard’s debut novel, Hunting Annabelle. Is he a serial killer? Is he completely off his rocker? Or just a one-time thing? You won’t find out until the very end… (just a little tease)! What you *will* quickly realize is that he's an odd duck. I guarantee he'll have your full attention from page one. Deliciously untrustworthy, yet incredibly ...

3.5 Unexpected Stars for Hunting Annabelle It's no secret I enjoy reading about psychotic killers and aggressive, unremorseful sociopaths. Thrillers are totally my thing! Hunting Annabelle had all of that, along with a damaged main character that you can't help but feel some sympathy for. Yikes, did I just admit I found a sociopath endearing? Yes, yes I did!I was really intrigued by the premise of Wendy Heard's book, Hunting Annabelle. Sean Suh is a killer. He's fighting demons daily, trying not...

Unfortunately, *Hunting Annabelle* just wasn't the right book for me. I just didn't enjoy it. It had a promising start, as Wendy Heard's writing is strong, but the story itself did nothing for me.Around the 50% mark, *Hunting Annabelle* took a turn and was never able to recapture my interest. Our protagonist, Sean Suh, is a Korean-American in his early 20s, who you discover has strong urges to hurt and kill young women. In fact, you learn that he acted on these urges at least once in a severe en...

3.5 terrifying stars Sean is a seriously troubled young man, recently released from a mental institution after being convicted of a gruesome murder. Sean is mentally ill, raised by what seems to be an uncaring, brilliant neurosurgeon mother. He tries to escape the hallucinations, the psychotropic drugs, the delusions, and the overwhelming urge to kill. He sees auras indicative of his schizophrenia, and then one day in a park he frequents, he meets Annabelle, and there's an instant connection. Co...

Absolutely amazing!! From the start, "Hunting Annabelle" by Wendy Heard felt like a solid four-star read... but then that ending completely floored me! It's such a fresh and original take on the psychological thriller, a genre I absolutely adore. Truly inventive and unlike anything I've read recently. I wholeheartedly recommend "Hunting Annabelle" to all mystery and thriller fans. You definitely won't be disappointed! If you're looking for a gripping psychological thriller, Wendy Heard's "Huntin...

I feel like Sean is such a well-developed character in *Hunting Annabelle*. Even knowing he killed his teenage girlfriend in high school due to mental illness, I couldn't help but hope he could be truly rehabilitated and have a better future. Those thoughts are tough because I know that girl's life was snuffed out, and she has no chance at a better life. Her friends and family will always be affected by her murder and death – a reality Sean understands. It also makes me wonder if murderers can e...

In *Hunting Annabelle*, we meet Sean, a young man in his twenties wrestling with the personal demons stemming from his serious mental illness. When a girl he's just met is kidnapped right before his eyes... or *is* she? What unfolds is his quest to discover what happened to Annabelle, all while the police are investigating him as the main suspect in her disappearance. I really enjoyed the first third of *Hunting Annabelle*, but the plot's initial novelty wore off pretty quickly for me. I grew bo...

Wendy Heard's Hunting Annabelle is a psychological thriller at its absolute finest – dark, twisted, and delivering a seriously creepy vibe. I was completely in the dark about where this story was headed, but I knew I was wholeheartedly pulling for Sean, the tormented protagonist whose desperate search for Annabelle forces him to confront his own inner demons. Gritty, intense, and utterly unpredictable, Hunting Annabelle is one hell of a rollercoaster. For fans of suspenseful book reviews, this i...
