My conclusion: I was thrilled with the first book, but unfortunately, the second couldn't quite keep up. There was still plenty of action and suspense, but I couldn't really get invested when I knew they'd get out of any situation. At some points, I was just skimming paragraphs. I know the heroes usually make it, but the author didn't quite succeed—for me—in making me truly root for them… on the other hand, there was an underlying tension from the basic premise of what was really behind it all. ...

This was a real slog to get through, at least for me. It tries to be sci-fi with thriller elements, but it doesn't come close to the quality of the first book in the Travis Chase series. I seriously doubt I'll be picking up any more books by Patrick Lee, the author of "Ghost Country: A Travis Chase Thriller". If you're looking for a gripping thriller, this isn't it, in my opinion. There are far better thriller books out there.

For the past two years, Travis Chase has been living a quiet life, staying under the radar as Rob Pullman. One night, after a late dinner, Travis was settling down for the night when his buzzer rang, echoing through his apartment. Looking out the window, he saw a young woman, somewhere in her twenties, looking back at him. She called up to him, shouting his name: Travis. Only one person knew he was in hiding as Rob Pullman, and he realized this stranger must have been sent by Paige Campbell, the...

This is another totally fun thriller with an unbelievably loopy plot. If you're looking for exciting book reviews, look no further! In *Ghost Country: A Travis Chase Thriller*, the characters are caught up in a government conspiracy that involves the end of the world. A unique device opens a window into the future and shows that America has become a barren wasteland. What happened? Where did everyone go? And can this doomsday be prevented? The story jumps around in time, and our heroes are often j...

Okay... I had written a whole review, and then it vanished. Sigh. Let's start again. As I said in the review that disappeared, I really enjoyed *Ghost Country: A Travis Chase Thriller* by Patrick Lee. This one picks up a while after the last book ended. Right as we start... as you might expect, another huge disaster is brewing, and the Breach and the things that come from it (naturally) are involved. While the core concept of the book isn't completely unique (what is, really?), the way it's ...

Well.... I had written a whole review, and then it vanished. Sigh. Let's start over. As I said in the review that vanished, I really enjoyed *Ghost Country: A Travis Chase Thriller*. This one picks up some time after the end of the previous book. As we open... as you might expect, another catastrophic event is brewing, and the Breach and the things from it (of course) are involved. The book (or the idea behind it) isn't totally original (what is, really?), but it feels very fresh in how it's...

GHOST COUNTRY: A Travis Chase Thriller (published in 2011) by Patrick Lee is the second book in a 3-book series, and I liked this one even more than the first, which was already fantastic. I literally couldn't put it down! Inexplicable, cutting-edge technology has seeped into our world through a super-secret anomaly known as The Breach. In Book #1 of the series, we saw Travis Davis and Paige Campbell battling for control of a device known as Whisper. Book #2 has our hero and heroine racing again...

The one thing that kept popping into my head while reading and after finishing *Ghost Country: A Travis Chase Thriller* was: *TOTAL UNEXPECTEDNESS*. Now, I'm not saying it was unexpectedly *good*, because after the awesome *The Breach*, I was absolutely expecting a good yarn. But this book exceeded all expectations to be simply BRILLIANT. And if *The Breach* gave me any indication, I was also expecting all kinds of unpredictable twists and turns in the story, so that wasn't unexpected at all. No...

Even though I named my blog "Fantasy & SciFi Lovin'," I'm a sucker for thrillers too. When you combine the two, it's like the perfect peanut butter and chocolate pairing. So, *The Breach*, the first book in Patrick Lee's series, was a real treat. I couldn't wait to get my hands on *Ghost Country: A Travis Chase Thriller*, and just like the first book, it didn't take me long to devour Lee's latest offering. **The Good:** There's a whole lot to love about *Ghost Country: A Travis Chase Thriller*...

I honestly didn't think Patrick Lee could top his first book, that there was no way he could deliver something even remotely as interesting or well-written. And yet, here we are with another five-star review plastered next to his name. Once again, *Ghost Country: A Travis Chase Thriller* gives a nod to action sci-fi shows like Fringe and X-Files. But Lee's writing is so perfectly paced, so breezy, fluid, and absolutely enthralling, that he pulled me in deeper than any television show, or even an...
