This book, Andre Norton's *Forerunner's Quest*, felt like a time warp in itself, harking back to an era when parapsychology and psychometry were genuinely being explored for potential guidance by archaeologists. The early '70s were a very trusting time in many ways, probably a result of some of the mind-opening experiences of the late sixties. I also found myself wondering how familiar Norton was with Dion Fortune. If anyone knows who Norton kept in contact with, please let me know. That being...

In this story, we return to Korwar, the setting for Catseye: a city of sybarites, corruption, and the Thieves' Guild. Andre Norton makes an effort to bring women into the foreground, showing they can have control and adventures. Unfortunately, the main female character, Ziantha, is a human teenager who is too easily led and not rebellious enough.Ziantha has been adopted by the fascinating female master criminal, Yasa, a feline Salariki. Yasa is a force to be reckoned with in the Thieves' Guild a...

Snagged this one for 50 cents at an estate sale. The cover art? Killer. Back in the '70s, all the hip fantasy authors decided magic was so last year, but mind powers? Totally legit (Uri Geller bending spoons and all that). True to form, Andre Norton sticks to the rules from the AD&D Psionics Handbook (2nd Edition) and whisks us away on an epic adventure with a psionicist who's, like, level 12.My partner read "Forerunner's Quest" before I did and nailed it, calling it "Inception" with mind powers...

Often seen as a sequel to Storm Over Warlock and Ordeal in Otherwhere, but honestly, the connections are pretty weak. We're in the same universe, and a major character is the son of the heroes from the last book. Plus, he's a telepath trained by the Wyverns of Warlock. The earlier books in this sort-of series were straightforward sci-fi adventure, written in a nice, clean style. But in Forerunner's Quest by Andre Norton, she often uses this weird, old-fashioned writing style, I guess to make the...

A quick and easy read that doesn't skimp on style or quality. It's kind of a psionic space opera, full of intrigue and action-adventure. Hard to put your finger on exactly what it is, but it's a good story with some interesting twists right at the end. If you're looking for engaging science fiction book reviews, check out Andre Norton's *Forerunner's Quest*.

I really enjoyed this book when I was around 14, and I still remember some parts of it. The scene that sticks out to me is underground, in the Forerunner tunnels. They're lit by these old, dim gray Forerunner light tubes. The team is deep inside when the lights start to fade... FADE TO BLACK. A genuinely scary moment! Here's the review to read: https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-re... "...The alien artifact has an agenda of its own. It wishes to be reunited with its 'twin' and leads Ziantha a...

Although *Forerunner's Quest* is marked as the third book in the Forerunner series, diving into this one first won't ruin anything from the initial two. Ris Lantee, Shann Lantee's son (maybe?), appears as a character, but since Norton never offs her main characters, it's hardly a spoiler. Plus, you don't really need any deep background from the previous books to get into this one. Ziantha feels a little vanilla and lacks the drive of Charis Nordholme from the second book. The time travel bits a...

The third book in the series, though it feels much less connected to *Storm Over Warlock* and *Ordeal In Otherwhere* than the previous installments. (Seriously, blink and you'll miss the connections.) And the story begins on the same planet where Andre Norton's *Catseye* takes place. Ziantha also escaped from the Dipple; Yasa, a catwoman and a high-ranking VP in the Thieves' Guild, recognized her as a sensitive and took her under her wing. The story kicks off with Ziantha raiding an information...

The first book I ever read by Alice Norton – better known as Andre Norton – was *Forerunner's Quest*. She was a prolific science fiction and fantasy writer who started publishing back in the 1950s. Most of her books explore psychic abilities, the bond between humans and animals, and psychic connections between people and objects. One of her greatest strengths is developing characters you genuinely care about; she's truly one of the best in the genre. I originally bought *Forerunner's Quest* at ...

This is the third book in Andre Norton's *Forerunner's Quest*. It's a good read, clearly written with a younger audience in mind. The main character is Ziantha, a young woman from the slums of a pleasure planet. She has the unusual ability to sense the past simply by holding an object. Overall, *Forerunner's Quest* explores the potential of parapsychology in a futuristic universe. Ziantha is taken in and trained by the thieves' guild, who expect her to work for them. But while on assignment, she...
