One of my goals this year is to read more queer books, so I'm kicking things off with Sophie Gonzales' *Forbidden Melody*. Update: Absolutely adored it!!! It took me a little while to finish, but it ended up being such a comforting read. The story perfectly balances tenderness with angst, longing, and quiet emotional moments in such a satisfying way :)) I loved their relationship and the royalty x nobody dynamic (a bit surreal and maybe overdone, I KNOW, but still enjoyable). If you're looking f...

If this weren't YA (which I didn't realize going in because I literally never pay attention to anything), I think "Forbidden Melody" could've been a five-star read, maybe? Is that too much praise? I think this was my first FF book, so it was a new experience, but more importantly, it was FUN and SO CUTE! Even though I've outgrown YA, some books still grab me, and this was one of them. Fun concept and great execution, yes ma'am!! Definitely recommend if you're looking for fun YA romance books.Pre...

HAPPY PUB DAY to this little cutie!! I literally haven’t stopped thinking about it since I read it 🙂‍↕️Wow, **Forbidden Melody** had a darker subplot than I was expecting, but I genuinely liked the levity it added to a YA book. Sometimes these characters read young for their actions/language, but overall, this was a cute romance and a quick, breezy read!Thank you to NetGalley and Wednesday Books for the ARC!! If you're looking for **YA book reviews** or just a sweet story by **Sophie Gonzales**...

☆4.5 stars!!! ⁀➷💌 and when you wake up next to him in the middle of the night, with your head in your hands, you’re nothing more than his wife. I wanted to preface this by thanking NetGalley for the ARC, as well as St. Martin’s Publishing! I’ve been in the worst reading slump for three months, but I finished 3/4 of Sophie Gonzales' *Forbidden Melody* in one single night and OH. EHM. GEE. The amount of squeals and anxiety I experienced?! I must rant. If you're looking for emotional sapphic book ...

It’s been a while since I read one of Sophie Gonzales’ books, and now I remember why I love her writing so much. It’s vibrant and light and just dances on the pages. Add a dual narrative with two distinct voices, and it made me fall head over heels. Danni was immediately my favorite, but I had to warm up to Rose. She felt so empty and insensible, especially about what happened in Amsterdam. Yes, my country’s capital, even though that part was a bit of a stereotype. Dutch readers, you probably k...

DNF @45% - I'm just not feeling the writing style. The characters also come across as being on the younger end of the YA spectrum, and that's not really doing it for me.Also, apparently having a leather bag and clean sneakers automatically means you own a Porsche. 🥴Don't let my experience put you off if you're interested—I'm probably just too old for these characters. Maybe I'm just not the right audience for Sophie Gonzales' *Forbidden Melody*. But you might be!➽─────────❥*The Princess Diaries...

Royalty? Belongs to the gays. 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️ Exactlyyyyyyy! In Sophie Gonzales' *Forbidden Melody*, we follow Rose, a princess from a small country, and Danni, an immigrant who gets accepted into the prestigious boarding school Rose attends. There, Rose and Danni strike up a friendship and, shocker, fall for each other.I'll start by saying I *really* enjoyed the characters! Sophie Gonzales excels at creating compelling characters, so I wasn't surprised I enjoyed both main characters' POVs.Danni ...
