As you find me, it's autumn 2025 and my latest novel is Famous Last Words, a thriller with a marriage at its centre. It asks the question: what would you do if your husband is caught up in a siege in central London? Only, the police tell you he isn't one of the hostages: he is the gunman... I hope you like the answer!U...

When a book kicks off with as much excitement as this one does, is it even realistic to expect the rest of the story to keep up or even top that? Hmm, that's a question I'm still turning over in my mind. Cam drops off her baby girl at daycare for the very first time and heads back to work. But that morning, she woke up to an empty space beside her in bed and a cryptic note from her husband. And now, the police are at her office, insisting that Luke is involved in a hostage situation – not as a ...

Famous Last Words is the second Gillian McAllister book I've read (I thought Wrong Place Wrong Time was just okay), and it's my favorite so far. I really liked Cam as a character, the pacing was great, and I honestly had no clue what was going on until the very end.Okay, fine, one twist was a little obvious, but it didn't actually reveal anything significant about the core mystery of the story. Cam and her husband, Luke, have a deeply loving relationship, fulfilling careers, and a baby daughter ...

A must-read!! When some of my favorite reviewers rated *Famous Last Words* high, I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. Turned down by NetGalley :( I took my chance with Edelweiss Books and the same publisher and scored!! So thank you Edelweiss Books and William Morrow for this fabulous book in exchange for my honest review! It's a big day for Cam, returning to work as a literary agent after maternity leave with her baby Polly. Her husband, Luke, must have left early, leaving a cryptic note. Whe...

BOOM!A missing husband, a new mom, and a cryptic note—it all adds up to one heck of a suspenseful ride in *Famous Last Words* by Gillian McAllister!!This is the third book I've read by this author, and it's my absolute favorite.Cam, the wife, has a dream job where she gets paid to read novels. After maternity leave, she drops her baby off at daycare and heads to work. But her day takes a terrifying turn when she sees Breaking News flash across the screen about a siege in Central London. The story...

4.5 stars Camilla (Cam) is dropping her infant daughter Polly off at daycare for the first time and returning to her job as a literary agent after months away on maternity leave. So, it seems particularly out of character for her husband Luke to not be there that morning to see them off.In his place is a cryptic note. One side reads “If anything” but it’s been crossed out. The other side says “It’s been so lovely with you both. Lx.”She sends him a message. No reply. She sends another. Silence.Cam...

It's the summer solstice, which also happens to be Camilla Deschamps' first day back at work after maternity leave, and her daughter Polly’s first day at nursery. Camilla expected some help from her husband Luke, but she comes downstairs to find he’s nowhere to be seen. What she *does* find is an unfinished note from Luke – "It’s been lovely with you both." Really weird, what on earth does he mean? However, she has to put it to the back of her mind for now and fully concentrate on her job as a b...

That only happens to other people. That is of course, until it comes knocking at your door! It’s Cam’s first day back at work following a lengthy maternity leave. All she just needs now is a loving pep talk from her husband Luke and she’ll be ready to hit the ground running. Only he’s nowhere to be found and not answering his phone or texts. As she readies their daughter to drop off at daycare she finds a very short and disturbing note from Luke. She has no time to dwell on it, she must get ready...

2.5 starsI'm honestly about ready to throw in the towel on mysteries and thrillers. Too often, the writing is either just plain awful (think *The Silent Patient*) or mind-numbingly boring (Ruth Ware springs to mind). But every now and then, you get writers like Shari Lapena or Freida McFadden who, while they won't be winning any Pulitzers, can still deliver a fun, suspenseful ride that keeps you guessing. Then came Gillian McAllister's latest, *Famous Last Words*. It started with such a promising...

I'm always biased when it comes to rating any book by Gillian McAllister—I'm ready to give five stars before I even start reading! And once I finish, I feel validated because her work always turns out to be five-star worthy, mind-blowing as usual! The same thing happened with **Famous Last Words**, but two elements made me love it even more than her previous works. First, Camilla’s way of escaping into fiction resonates deeply with me. The portrayal of a bookish introvert's inner world and her ...
