I honestly don't know how to feel about "Departure" or what it implies. On one hand, it's a thrilling, fast-paced read. On the other, it feels like a manifesto pushing for changes that seem almost religious in their scale and ambition. I just don't buy into the idea that humanity is inherently good, or that we're capable of the kinds of transformations A.G. Riddle proposes in any timeframe that would actually save us from disaster. The thought of medical immortality absolutely terrifies me becau...

This *soooo* reminded me of when reading Dan Brown was actually enjoyable. That was *quite* some time ago. How the years fly by...
It's like an action movie at the cinema—you switch your brain off a little, ready to be simply 'entertained,' and that's precisely what you get. You won't be let down by its lightness on every level. Hey, but it's a fast read! If you're looking for quick and entertaining sci-fi thrillers, A.G. Riddle's *Departure* might be exactly what you want.

Four smart stars ★★★★ for *Departure* by A.G. Riddle-- Five for the first half, three for the second.
This novel started out gangbusters, just like the TV show LOST, with action, drama, tragedy, oh-so-many questions, and people you love to hate. I was angry, hungry, cold, exhausted, scared and infuriated right alongside Nick, Harper, Sabrina and rest of the stranded Flight 305 gang. It was exhilarating and torturous.
The first half flew by. I HAD TO KNOW what was going on, how they were going ...

I really loved this book! It's totally my kind of thing—it's got everything I look for. It's futuristic, full of adventure, has a great mystery, opposing sides, and a little bit of romance (because, you know, love makes the world go round :p) and a PLANE CRASH. That's what makes A.G. Riddle's *Departure* so awesome and enjoyable for me. I liked Nick, but I wasn't crazy about Harper. She's a bit dull, or maybe it's just that I can't stand people who can't make up their minds, I don't know. If yo...

With over a million copies sold and about 85% of reviewers giving it 4 to 5 stars, I was expecting something much better from "Departure" by A.G. Riddle. At the very least, I was hoping for a mindless page-turner. The book *did* start out that way, but I'm surprised so many readers gave it such high marks in the end. Did they switch off their brains halfway through and just accept whatever A.G. Riddle threw at them? Sometimes I can do that, but it's harder when reading with a book club. The basic...

It seems I’m involved in a conspiracy that spans space and time and a conflict whose outcome will determine humanity’s fate in two separate universes.
Oh, is that all? Flight 305 from New York to London runs into a little space-time turbulence and finds itself, or a piece of itself, anyway, in an English lake. Help should be along shortly, right…um, right? The passenger list included five people of interest. Venture capitalist and take-charge sort Nick Stone has done nicely in tech and is en ...

3.5 out of 5 stars at The BiblioSanctum http://bibliosanctum.com/2015/08/06/a...I first encountered *Departure* as an audiobook (I'm always browsing for interesting new titles to listen to, so it was hard to miss how often it popped up on popular science fiction and fantasy audiobook lists). I didn’t know that A.G. Riddle's *Departure* was originally self-published. Its success must have turned heads, because I recently learned that HarperCollins bought it and will be re-releasing it later this ...

By page 15, I was well and truly sick of Nick fucking Stone. It didn't get much better from there.Warning for some slight cursing.I picked up "Departure" by A.G. Riddle because physics is my jam, and I really like stories about a ragtag bunch of people having to learn to rely on each other to survive. (Also, the cover is absolutely amazing.)This is not that book. This is "I'm going to pretend this book is harder science fiction than it actually is for no reason, and also, rather than everyone lear...

Good Lord, this guy's brilliant. As a fan of "The Origin Mystery," I downloaded "Departure" the instant I knew it was out. And A.G. Riddle didn't let me down. The plot was a blast, the characters were interesting and easy to connect with, and, true to form, the science was complex but still made sense and felt real. It really gets you thinking: what happens next? Loved every single second. Highly recommend it. If you're looking for a thrilling sci-fi read, A.G. Riddle's "Departure" is it!

This is officially the last book I'll ever pick up just because it's "free for Amazon Prime members" and "highly rated by a bunch of randoms."
I'm done judging books by their cover (or their Prime status). I'm going back to recommendations from people I actually trust. Consider this my cautionary tale against blindly following the crowd when choosing your next read. There are so many books out there, don't waste your time on something that might not be worth it. 'Departure' by A.G. Riddle taugh...
