Hi, it’s me, the guy who reads Jane Austen-like books and retellings without having read the source material. Believe it or not, I actually enjoy them quite a bit despite not understanding the references! Besides, I feel like I've read all of her works already, by proxy or whatever. Anyway, another thing I quite enjoy is a good love triangle every now and then. I know, I know, that’s probably an unpopular opinion, and I’m sorry. It’s just with all the drama and the jealousy and the verbal sparri...

Title: Dangerous Alliance: An Austentatious Romance Author: Jennieke Cohen Age Group: Teen/Young Adult Genre: Historical Fiction/Romance Series: Standalone Star Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars I borrowed this book from my local library and this is my honest review. After finishing *The Story of More*, I desperately needed something lighter. I asked my friends for recommendations, and they all unanimously voted for *Dangerous Alliance: A Regency Romance*, so I decided to give it a try. It's no se...

I think I set my expectations way too high for Dangerous Alliance: A Regency Romance by Jennieke Cohen.THERE IS NO WITTY BANTER. THERE IS, HOWEVER, A LOT OF CRINGE. The synopsis led me to expect an Austen version of *I Believe in a Thing Called Love*. And I didn't get that. In fact, despite the frequent name-dropping, I didn't get much Austen-inspired plotting either. *Dangerous Alliance: A Regency Romance* reads much more like a homage to Ann Radcliffe or even (shudder) Samuel Richardson.I kno...

THISSSSSSSSSS ISSSSSSSSSS MYYYYYYYYYY TRASSSHHHHHHHHH Okay, look. I’m not going to pretend I’m objective here. "Dangerous Alliance: A Regency Romance" by Jennieke Cohen is my catnip. My guilty pleasure. My brain candy. I devoured it. I inhaled it. I would fight a bear for it. This book is everything I want in a light, fluffy, historical romance. 2.5 stars...I had fun with *Dangerous Alliance: A Regency Romance* at first, but it got old after a while. I kept reading mainly because I was curious. Some of the action near the end felt over the top to me and had me rolling my eyes instead of gripping the pages. It just felt a little too much.Still, I'm glad I tried to step out of my comfort zone, even though *Dangerous Alliance: A Regency Romance* by Jennieke Cohen ended up being just "meh" for me. Looking for a good Regency romance? This one...

Title: Dangerous Alliance: A Regency RomanceAuthor: Jennieke CohenRelease date: December 3, 2019Cliffhanger: NoGenre: historical romance“You’re not like Mr. Darcy. And I wouldn’t have you be. You’re you. And I wouldn’t trade you for a dozen perfect gentlemen. The reality of you is far better than any fiction.”This was such a fun, quirky book! When I read in the synopsis that the heroine is a book lover, more specifically that she is obsessed with Jane Austen, I knew she was a girl after my own ...

Dangerous Alliance: A Regency Romance scratched an itch I didn't even know I had for a YA historical romance in the style of Jane Austen. This book is like the love child of every Jane Austen novel and Vanity Fair. The story unfolds in 1817, a time when Jane Austen had already published most of her novels, and the main character, Victoria "Vicky" Aston, is a huge fan. When scandal threatens her family, she must navigate the social season to find a wealthy husband and save their estate. Reluctant...

Dangerous Alliance: A Regency Romance was an enchanting, heartwarming, and enthralling blend of history, romance, and mystery. With charming nods to some of Jane Austen's most beloved novels and characters, it was truly a delightful read. Featuring engaging characters, a wonderfully old-world English setting, and a mystery that keeps you guessing, I couldn't put this one down. I devoured every single page and was genuinely sad when it ended because I wasn't ready to say goodbye. *ARC provided ...

ARC received in exchange for an honest review - thank you! I'm feeling so bummed out right now... not many YA books seem to be grabbing me lately. This is the third ARC in just a few days that I think I'm going to have to DNF. I'm completely unimpressed by her stupidity. She ends up slamming her head on the ground for the SECOND time in FIVE MINUTES because she didn't move when someone randomly attacked her. And she doesn't even seem that horrified that someone did attack her.Like, girl, ...
