My journey to becoming an author has been a roundabout one, taking in many other careers. I grew up on the edge of Epping Forest and was that dreamy kind of child who was always writing stories. After reading English at Cambridge, I decided to find out as much as I could about the wider world so joined the Foreign Offi...

Cat Among the Pigeons (Cat Royal, #2) by Julia Golding delivers a sweet story with a nice ending. This children's book review notes, however, that it's clearly aimed at a younger audience, and for me, it lacked a bit of depth.

A fun read. I wasn't expecting to miss these characters from Julia Golding's *Cat Among the Pigeons (Cat Royal, #2)* as much as I did.

Cat Among the Pigeons (Cat Royal, #2) by Julia Golding begins with Cat Royal's friend Pedro about to become the darling of London with his performance as Ariel in Shakespeare's The Tempest. Pedro's owner arrives to claim Pedro as his slave and return the boy to the plantation in Jamaica. Cat must call upon her friends, Lord Francis and Lizzie, and their mother's abolitionist friends for help. Cat manages to run afoul of Master Hawkins and has to flee the only home she's ever known. Cat needs the...

I loved this Julia Golding series as a kid (and I must have been reading pretty contemporarily with the publishing dates, because I recall waiting for the third book to be published) but could not for the life of me have told you the plot of any of them. It quite surprised me to read Cat Among the Pigeons (Cat Royal, #2) as an adult and find it chock-full of historical characters and tropes that I adore now: cross-dressing, The Tempest, umbrella-wielding old women, the Clapham Circle. This histo...

Lovely sequel to the first Cat Royal adventure, with more irrepressible behavior and spiffy 18th-century slang from Cat Royal, resident orphan of the Drury Lane Theater.Like its predecessor, the story's greatest strength lies in its cast of characters, featuring both high- and low-born individuals. Pedro, the former slave and violin prodigy who shares the theater, finds himself in peril. His former owner has tracked him down, claiming the right to re-enslave him. The theater community and the th...

(London, 1790) Now, having finished the second book, Cat finds herself facing an even newer and more complex challenge. To help her friend (I won't spoil who!), Cat has been forced to disguise herself as a boy and confront her worst enemy....And just like that, book two is done!It was such a smooth read. This **Julia Golding** series gives me such a good feeling 😍 and I genuinely enjoy it. I can connect with it in a really special way.Well, for me, the second book was definitely on par with the...

This is probably even better than the first one! I loved *Cat Among the Pigeons* by Julia Golding SO much! In this delightful historical fiction adventure, Cat pretends to be a boy, and it’s absolutely hilarious when Frank & Charlie try to protect her at the boys' school!!!!

The curtains fall on Cat Among the Pigeons!
It was excellent! Julia Golding certainly knows how to keep you hooked.
Nothing more to say... On to volume 3!

This series REALLY doesn't deserve the stars I give it, haha! But still, I have to, because I love them so much.Basically, this is the next book in the Cat Royal series, *Cat Among the Pigeons* by Julia Golding. It's just as much fun as the first one. There's something oddly addictive about this historical fiction novel. I've come to the conclusion that it's the characters I love – the hot-tempered and often sarcastic Cat, the protective butcher Syd, the full-of-himself ex-slave Pedro, Frank, Li...
