I honestly wish Hollywood would stop rebooting every single franchise and start making original movies again. If you're looking for a thrill, Black Order by James Rollins is essentially a blockbuster action movie waiting to happen on the big screen. It’s a high-octane page-turner that delivers everything you could want from a summer popcorn flick, packed with intense action and non-stop adventure. If you're looking for your next great thriller book recommendation, this is it.

When it comes to James Rollins, there is never any fear of disappointment. The third installment in the Sigma Force series is vastly different and significantly better than the first two books. Getting to see the leads from two different stories come together in one book was a fantastic experience. There’s really nothing new to add about the quality of the writing or the plot—they are top-notch as always. This book also marked the translator's debut, and they took on a bold challenge. To prove o...

Black Order by James Rollins is packed with high-octane action and plenty of fascinating scientific detail. While some of the plot points push the boundaries of reality, it remains a thoroughly entertaining thriller. If you are looking for a fast-paced book review, this is a must-read for fans of edge-of-your-seat adventure.

Black Order is the third installment in the Sigma Force series by James Rollins. After taking a few years off from archaeological and international thrillers, I decided to add a few to my 2021 reading list. I started with the first book in the series and I’m planning to work through one each month until I’m all caught up sometime next year. Of the three I’ve read so far, this was my least favorite, though it was still a decent read overall. The first 100 pages of this 600-page book feature discon...

An outstanding action-adventure thriller! Black Order is the third book by James Rollins that I’ve picked up, and I honestly think I’ve enjoyed each one a little more than the last. This story is packed with non-stop action, perfectly layered with a fascinating scientific mystery. I’m definitely going to keep reading this series, and I’ll be checking out more of James Rollins’ other work soon. If you are looking for a top-tier page-turner for your next book review, this is it.

Curse you, James Rollins! You kept me up until nearly 2 a.m. on a weeknight because I simply had to finish Black Order.Like any author, Rollins has a signature writing style, which means I usually have a hunch about how the story will unfold. Because of that, I can only tackle one of his books every couple of months. Here is what I love about James Rollins’s novels:1. They perfectly define their genre.2. No one is safe—if you’ve read his work, you know exactly what I mean.3. The characters feel ...

4.0 stars. Having just finished the third installment of the Sigma Force series, I can definitely say I’m a fan. I love the premise: essentially special forces agents with PhDs in multiple scientific fields working for a secret branch of DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) to hunt down rogue technology and dangerous terrorists. Black Order by James Rollins delivers great action, smart and slick plots, and a cast of genuine 'good guy' characters. It’s certainly the literary equivale...

"The truth is too beautiful to die and too monstrous to set free." At first, this sounded like just another melodramatic line from a doomed Nazi scientist. But by the time I reached the final pages of Black Order, I realized those words—repeated throughout the second half of the book—were a perfectly haunting summary of the conclusion. Black Order feels a bit different from other James Rollins novels. It’s arguably less frantic, though perhaps a little less coherent; I suspect that’s because i...
