Five years on, Malorie and her two young children are among the few who remain. They dream of escape, a sanctuary from the unseen horrors. Now, the ch...

I messed up and watched the movie first, but I still absolutely loved *Bird Box*! Josh Malerman's *Bird Box* follows Malorie and her two kids as they try to survive in a world gone completely sideways. Creatures are out there, roaming around, but if you even glance at them, you turn incredibly violent. Seriously messed up. This is one of the most original ideas I’ve ever come across, and I’m totally here for it. Malerman throws you headfirst into a truly terrifying world. It really makes you sto...

5/5 ⭐Full review on my Blog: The Dacian She-Wolf 🐺This book, this absolutely fabulous book (the one that made me cover my windows with thick curtains even in broad daylight, and seriously question my desire to leave the house, not to mention my sanity) completely hooked me from start to finish. *Bird Box*, you did things to my brain I didn’t even know were possible. Seriously, congrats, you little devil!Let's start with this: this book scared the absolute crap out of me at times. It's the kind ...

But...but...what? No, that can’t be the end. The disappointment is real. "They'll eventually get us...there's no reason to think otherwise. It's end times, people. And if it's a matter of a creature our brains are incapable of comprehending, then we deserve it. I always assumed the end would come because of our own stupidity." Okay then.... so this was going REALLY well! I was sufficiently creeped out. The world has gone bonkers due to something (no one knows what) that is causing people to go ...

I’m typing this with a freaking scarf over my eyes, so please forgive any typos.
Please, please don't do what I did, fellow book lovers.
Do NOT watch the movie first.
This is a big mistake; one to be avoided at all costs.
The story began pulse-like. Staccato sentences that suited the stop/start tempo of a life lived in fear. Josh Malerman's Morse code narrative drew me in from the start.
In an apocalyptic alternative reality, an abstract *thing* inhabits our planet; a demonic indescribable ent...

UPDATE: $2.99 Kindle US 10/26/20Holy crap on a cracker, y'all! This book! Total creepshow!! AND I LOVE IT!! If you're looking for scary book reviews, look no further than Josh Malerman's *Bird Box*!Don't even think about going outside without your blindfold, or you might just open your eyes to something you can't unsee. I gotta say, if I had to pick an apocalypse to live through, I'd take the zombies. At least you can go outside, see them, and fight back. Unless you're blind, then you're totally...

Hold on tight...this trip is going to blow your mind!Horror is a genre that I normally avoid completely, but with the rave reviews from my Goodreads friends for this book I felt I needed to step out and give it a try. And it was so incredibly good! Oh my God! Malorie and her sister Shannon move in together in Detroit. Life immediately throws her a curve ball. Malorie learns she's pregnant from a brief encounter with someone she didn't know well, and thinks this is as bad as it gets. Not even clo...

(3.5) I get the feeling this isn't the most common take, but I thought *Bird Box* by Josh Malerman was just alright. The premise is fantastic, and I really enjoyed the flashbacks, but I absolutely hate it when stories leave things hanging. If it’s aliens, just tell me, and I'll be happy. If you leave things unexplained, I'm going to assume you didn't know how to end your book. The ending of *Bird Box* wasn’t as shocking as everyone made it out to be. Overall, it was a bit underwhelming after hear...

Josh Malerman's *Bird Box* is an incredibly original horror/psychological suspense novel that reminds us that, with all great horror, the unseen is so much more terrifying than the seen. This is why Japanese horror movies are so effective. They don't rely on graphic special effects to build the suspense. Instead, the way they manipulate shadows, sounds, and background space creates an unparalleled atmosphere that leaves a more lasting, haunting impression than "crazy chainsaw-toting psychopath" ...

Close your eyes and imagine the deep, resonant voice of voiceover legend Don LaFontaine intoning, “In a world gone mad…” and that’s pretty much where *Bird Box* by Josh Malerman begins. Open your eyes and go mad. Kill others, kill yourself. Can you resist peeking? For how long? In Josh Malerman’s post-apocalyptic, mind-blowing scare-scape, something terrible has happened. An invasion? Some natural disaster? No one knows for sure. But what’s become terrifyingly clear is that anyone who steps outs...

"Creatures…infinity…our minds have ceilings, Malorie...these things...they are beyond it…higher than it…out of reach…out of--BUT HERE”
Whatever you do DON’T OPEN YOUR EYES!!Malorie has just confirmed she is pregnant the very day that people begin killing themselves. News travels so fast now. Something can happen in Cairo. Someone can film it, load it to the internet, and within minutes of the event occurring someone in Des Moines is watching what happened. News, mostly tragic news, from a...
