What is it about writing an author bio that gives me that deer-in-headlights feeling? It's not exactly like I'm going to say "I was born in Alabama…" and somebody's going to jump up and snarl, "Oh yeah? Prove it!" At least I hope not.I think what gets me feeling itchy is all that emphasis on the facts of a life, while...

Okay, so *Beneath the Canopy of Stars* by Libba Bray is historical fiction, and it's a bit of a time-hopping adventure! We're talking three different time periods, and the story unfolds through the eyes of various characters. What I loved most is that *Beneath the Canopy of Stars* really makes you *think*. The kind of book that stays with you. And honestly? The ending was just *chef's kiss*. I thoroughly enjoyed reading *Beneath the Canopy of Stars*. If you're looking for thought-provoking histo...

I absolutely flew through "Beneath the Canopy of Stars"! The audiobook version really elevates the whole experience. The German accents are fantastic, the voice effects in some chapters are super effective, and having different narrators for each character was a great choice. Honestly, the only thing that kept it from being a perfect 5-star read for me was the 2020 timeline. With all the historical tragedies already woven into the story, another COVID narrative felt a bit much. That said, I stil...

This book was BEAUTIFULLY written. Hands down my new favorite book of 2025. If you love a genre blend of historical fiction, mystery, and contemporary fiction with superb writing, please, I'm begging you to read this! Now I'm scared to read any other historical fiction books because I think I'll be disappointed after reading Beneath the Canopy of Stars. The writing and the prose were unbelievable. It's probably been over a decade since I've read a Libba Bray book, but her writing will always be o...

The writing was top-notch, but unfortunately, *Beneath the Canopy of Stars* didn't really grab my attention as much as I thought it would. The book has a lot to say about the current climate regarding fascism and doing the right thing under dangerous circumstances. This is definitely an important read, and Libba Bray pulls no punches in that regard. All three (well, four-ish if you count Mormor's stories/fables) POVs have something to say regarding countering oppressive governments and recogniz...

DNF @ 60%I've spent the last couple of days debating whether or not to DNF **Beneath the Canopy of Stars** and I just couldn't bring myself to pick it back up. It started so strong, and I was really excited about where it was going, but it started to drag around the 30% mark. There were too many themes that I wasn't comfortable with, so for the sake of my own mental health and time, I had to let it go.⋆ ˚。⋆୨୧˚𝕻𝖗𝖊-𝖗𝖊𝖆𝖉˚୨୧⋆。˚ ⋆Thank you so much, NetGalley and Macmillan Audio, for the ALC! Okay, so I finally read *Beneath the Canopy of Stars*, the book I've been waiting for for actual years, and I've got some thoughts! As a Libba Bray mega-fan for almost twenty years, I can honestly say this book feels super different from her others. There's no actual magic, but this dreamy, fairytale vibe runs all the way through it, which I totally loved. The main idea in *Beneath the Canopy of Stars* is that magic might not be real in a literal way, but love and fighting back and community *are...
