Angeline Boulley's Beneath a Northern Sky is hands down the most impactful novel I’ve devoured this year. The true power of fiction lies in its ability to offer readers a window into lives, experiences, and struggles vastly different from their own. Beneath a Northern Sky achieves this brilliantly on so many levels. First and foremost, it provides a vital insight into the lives of Indigenous people living today, while also offering essential historical context for the battles they continue to fa...

*Bittersweet*This book completely broke my heart, mended it, and then broke it all over again. I absolutely loved reading *Beneath a Northern Sky* by Angeline Boulley, and the narration by Isabella Lablanc was fantastic. The raw emotion and intense events frequently took my breath away as I felt so deeply for the main character, Lucy.Lucy's life has been incredibly difficult. Abandoned by her mother at birth, she felt completely loved by her father, who raised her mostly on his own. It was usuall...

Gosh, I had such high hopes for Angeline Boulley's *Beneath a Northern Sky*. I really liked *Firekeeper's Daughter*, loved *Warrior Girl Unearthed*, and this one started out really strong for me. Set five years after *Firekeeper's Daughter* and five years before *Warrior Girl Unearthed*, I was thrilled to see Daunis and Jamie back in the story. *Beneath a Northern Sky* follows Lucy, who's on the run, and you don't know why until flashbacks slowly reveal what happened. Everything's going fine unt...

Incredible! Angeline Boulley is such a phenomenal storyteller. She seamlessly blends thriller elements with a character-driven plot that really hits hard, all while teaching you something important. Beneath a Northern Sky revisits characters we know from previous books, but this time the focus is on Lucy. Lucy's a girl who's been through incredibly traumatic experiences in foster care after the death of her white father, who never told her that her mother was Indigenous. This book shines a light ...

This is a coming-of-age story about a young Ojibwe woman who's forced to battle so much: ● Her identity as a woman of mixed Indigenous ancestry. ● The failures of the foster care system. ● Past actions she took trying to right the wrongs done to her and those she loved. ● The way men treat her…the constant gawking as she develops is just one thing she has to deal with. ● Figuring out who she can trust to tell her the truth and protect her. ● Adults abusing their power over her. It’s heartbreaki...

I'm an absolute mess, struggling to breathe through all these tears and snot. My chest aches, and I feel completely gutted. Honestly, *Beneath a Northern Sky* was freaking incredible. If you enjoy a good mystery that pulls at every single heartstring, you absolutely need to read Angeline Boulley's latest novel. And I mean *every* feeling. Sadness, joy, anger, utter stress, heartbreak, and hope – it's all there. This mystery was so captivating that I devoured the entire book in under 24 hours. Pr...

I will never recover from reading Angeline Boulley's *Beneath a Northern Sky*. This book has utterly wrecked me in the best possible way. If you're looking for a book review that's objective and measured, look elsewhere. I'm too emotionally compromised to offer anything other than raw, unfiltered feelings. *Beneath a Northern Sky* isn't just a book; it's an experience, a journey, a punch to the gut that leaves you breathless and wanting more. Angeline Boulley has crafted something truly special ...

I'm starting to realize, tragically, that I like each Angeline Boulley book less than the last. Some of the topics covered in *Beneath a Northern Sky* were incredibly important (e.g., ICWA, failures of social services, sexual harassment/assault, etc.), but a lot of it felt weird and poorly executed, for lack of a better term. Lucy's character went through *a lot* during the story. I was reading *Parable of the Talents* at the same time, and sometimes I forgot which book I was reading because bot...

4.5 “The ultimate survival game is for girls to survive into adulthood. For the prey to avoid the predators. It’s a wry thought that turns somber when I remember my sister. Some girls don’t survive.”Angeline Boulley has done it again, writing a book that is equal parts thrilling, emotional, educational, and important. *Beneath a Northern Sky* takes place between the time periods in *Firekeeper’s Daughter* and *Warrior Girl Unearthed*. Daunis continues to play a large role in the book as she trie...
