Chaos, utter chaos, and then...WTF? I was expecting some kind of resolution to the storyline, and all I got was this crummy cliffhanger? Don't get me wrong, I still devoured *Agatha Heterodyne and the Siege of Mechanicsburg* by Phil Foglio. There were adorable wasp-fighting weasels and a seriously charismatic dragon. But...how is this the end of the first series? NOTHING is wrapped up. Edited to add: My bad. Apparently, this is the *penultimate* volume of the first storyline, so a massive cliffh...

Girl Genius is quite possibly the best and funniest steampunk fantasy horror sci-fi graphic novel series around. Even this far into the story, I was genuinely surprised by events in this volume of *Agatha Heterodyne and the Siege of Mechanicsburg* by Phil Foglio. Take, for example, the random evil geniuses popping up left and right to join the battle at Mechanicsburg, seemingly just hoping to gain something from the chaos… I mean, that's madness even for mad geniuses! Also, the various new facti...

The doom bell has rung. Agatha has been acknowledged as the official Heterodyne. The people of Mechanicsburg rejoice, the Jagers return, and the town is under siege. This volume of *Agatha Heterodyne and the Siege of Mechanicsburg* by Phil Foglio is an absolute rollercoaster! Trying to keep the empire together and off Agatha’s back, Gilgamesh Wulfenbach races to return to loyalist imperialists in what’s left of his father’s empire, only to find Prince Tarvek of Sturmhalten running it for him. Ki...

I'm a huge fan of this series, but these more recent books are leaning a little too hard into the action. We could really use a breather sometimes, a moment for both the readers and the characters to catch their breath. Think of it like the fourth act of a play, where there's some funny back-and-forth, or the characters just sit down for a cup of tea and strategize before all hell breaks loose in the finale. Volumes 9 through 13? Pure, unadulterated finale. Honestly, it's a bit exhausting. Still...

Things get real. The showdown between Agatha and the others against the castle winds down, but the tension between Agatha and the Baron? That's dialed up to eleven. There are a *lot* of plot threads going at once, which is both incredibly awesome and incredibly frustrating (as I've mentioned in previous reviews). If you're looking for exciting steampunk adventures, *Agatha Heterodyne and the Siege of Mechanicsburg* by Phil Foglio is a must-read, just be prepared for a wild ride!

This book really threw me for a loop. It was a little tough to keep track of who was where and doing what. I enjoyed the Jagers, but now I'm seriously worried about Agatha's love life in Agatha Heterodyne and the Siege of Mechanicsburg by Phil Foglio. Definitely a wild ride!

One of my absolute favorite comics, and quite possibly the comic I've re-read more than any other. The series maintains an impressive level of quality throughout, and *Agatha Heterodyne and the Siege of Mechanicsburg* is no exception. Phil Foglio continues to deliver a story that's both engaging and imaginative. If you're looking for a fantastic steampunk adventure, this graphic novel should be at the top of your list. Definitely a must-read for fans of the series and a great starting point for n...

Agatha finally throws caution to the wind and fully embraces her destiny as a Heterodyne.I really appreciate how this story challenges some of the tired tropes that often pop up in sci-fi and fantasy. The whole “women are inherently drawn to dark magic” idea gets a well-deserved smackdown when Klaus points out that every (rare) female Spark he’s ever encountered has been nothing but trouble and tried to off him. Gil, with a touch of common sense, simply asks: “Maybe *you’re* the problem?” [Hones...

Things really start to sizzle in this latest chapter of Girl Genius. Agatha Heterodyne has truly stepped into her own. She's not just a brilliant Spark; she's evolving into a shrewd military strategist too. Agatha is determined to rely only on the good people of Mechanicsburg and her own sharp mind to save her town—a lesson one of her would-be suitors learns the hard way when he arrogantly tries to become dictatorial and "rescue" her. The Foglios' skill just keeps getting better with each instal...
