Ooh, things just keep getting better as this series progresses! Storylines and character groups converge on Heterodyne Castle while Agatha tries to get the castle to recognize her as the rightful heir. Expect plenty of beefcake, some fantastic comedic moments from the Jägerkin, and past characters reappearing in ways that totally make sense! This series really rewards you with its intricate details. It's a great read, and perfect if you're looking for engaging fantasy book reviews.

I can barely say anything about what happens in this book without spoiling it, but wow... that hat! Seriously, it's one thing to just throw in a crazy hat, but it's a whole other level to give that hat such a satisfying story arc. It's a shame we couldn't see Zeetha's hand gestures during that scene; they probably would have gotten "Agatha Heterodyne and the Chapel of Bones" banned in a few countries, haha.
Seriously though, it gets tricky keeping all the groups vying for control of the castle ...

This might just be the best book yet in this thrilling, character-driven series, which really fleshes out the world through its characters interacting with the unique setting. At least, that's what I think! :)
Agatha Heterodyne has entered her family estate, Castle Heterodyne, to claim her legacy. It's not going to be easy, though, since the castle has a fractured intelligence of its own and a long history of creatively and sadistically eliminating anyone who dares to explore what lies within i...

I actually started reading the novel version of *Agatha Heterodyne and the Chapel of Bones* – you know, the one without the pictures. When I finally checked out the comics, I initially hated the art. I thought it was too cartoony, silly, busy, and just plain hard to figure out what was going on. But I'd enjoyed the novel, so I skimmed volumes one and two of the comic, then jumped ahead to volume four. This series by Kaja Foglio had won three Hugo Awards, so I figured there *had* to be something ...

This latest adventure focuses on Agatha finally taking the reins of Castle Heterodyne—though it's in a pretty dilapidated state, and its AI is teetering on the brink of insanity. As Agatha navigates this, several other parties are also vying for control of the castle (a futile endeavor, since they lack the Heterodyne bloodline), and a budding romance blossoms. A genuinely fun read, complemented by its delightful artwork. If you're looking for engaging steampunk fantasy, Kaja Foglio's *Agatha Het...

Volume 8: Where Agatha blunders into a castle of mass murderers, almost confesses her love, and triumphs at everything except the best hat competition. It's clear by now that the clumsy, accident-prone girl we met at the beginning isn't the same Agatha anymore. She's grown so much, both by choice and by circumstance. I'm really enjoying the woman Agatha is becoming. She's embracing her future, but taking it one step at a time. Instead of shrinking under the pressure of being a Heterodyne, she's s...

She might run a crazy castle, but he totally rocks that hat. Seriously, Agatha Heterodyne and the Chapel of Bones by Kaja Foglio is another wild ride. If you're hunting for a fun steampunk adventure, look no further!

Without a doubt, this is the best volume yet. The world-building and characters are simply amazing and so much fun. I was literally laughing out loud through most of "Agatha Heterodyne and the Chapel of Bones" by Kaja Foglio, and I can't recommend this series enough. If you enjoy adventure, fantasy, steampunk, and what's hilariously becoming a good helping of romance, then this series is for you. I love so many of these characters. Long after I've finished, these characters will stay with me. Es...

This is probably my favorite volume, mainly because it contains my absolute favorite bit of dialogue in the entire series (Klaus's monologue about workplace communication is pure gold!). Plus, I think this volume really highlights Agatha's incredible personality transformation. It's so *satisfying* to watch Agatha embrace her destiny as one of the most kickass heroines ever.Seriously, if you haven't started reading *Agatha Heterodyne and the Chapel of Bones* by Kaja Foglio, you're totally missin...

Hugo Award winner! WooHoo!Agatha has, in many ways, completed the first major step in her character transformation. The distracted, incompetent klutz we met in the first book has really come into her own and is ready to command her city and armies. I wonder if being back in the old homestead might push her a bit too far into the realm of dangerous, unstable mad-science favored by her ancestors. Maybe there was a reason the Heterodyne Boys spent so much time away from the castle adventuring in *A...
