I'm devouring this 460-page novel adaptation of comics I already love—I'm seriously hooked on this series! It's a win-win situation. If you're not into comics but enjoy steampunk fantasy, then "Agatha H. and the Voice of the Castle" by Phil Foglio is a fun, fast read. And if you're already a fan of the comics, these books are a great complement, packed with extra Easter eggs. (For instance, when the Baron is hospitalized after Agatha drops a clank on him in the last book, he warns Gil about the ...

Still absolutely loving this series! Agatha travels to Mechanicsburg to convince the artificial intelligence running the castle that she's a Heterodyne. Naturally, the castle took a beating in the battle with the Other, and the AI is fragmented. And let's just say, not all the pieces are playing with a full deck. With survival inside being a gamble, castle repairs have become a creative way to punish criminals.Meanwhile, with whispers of a true Heterodyne on the rise, different groups are starti...

It runs a tad long compared to the earlier books, and that cliffhanger ending is a killer, but it's still a blast to read. Now I just need to work my magic and get the publisher to hurry up and release "Agatha H. and the Voice of the Castle", the fourth book in the series!

Just like the first two books, I really enjoyed this one. It's kind of strange when a comic gets adapted into a novel, but it works. (And by strange, I mean I can't really think of any other examples.) But the Girl Genius universe and storyline are so rich that there's tons of extra material, so the novels aren't just retreads. They give you information and a deeper understanding of characters and plots that you just don't get from the comics. Of course, this only works because Phil and Kaja Fog...

It felt like forever waiting for "Agatha H. and the Voice of the Castle" to come out, and I was starting to think Phil Foglio and his co-author had abandoned the series. So, when it finally dropped, I was seriously hyped. I have to admit, though, this one wasn't quite as enjoyable as the first two books (and it's WAY longer). The real kicker is that it ends on a massive cliffhanger (fair warning!), so many readers might want to hold off until book 4 is out before diving into this one. I really h...

I was really looking forward to Agatha H. and the Voice of the Castle, especially since the Castle Heterodyne section of the webcomic was a bit unclear and confusing to me. Plus, Tarvek is one of my absolute favorite characters in the series.
Maybe my expectations were too high, but I felt this book followed the webcomic a little *too* closely, more so than the previous books. For me, there weren't enough of those glimpses behind the curtain, those insights into the thoughts, feelings, and exp...

The third installment in the *Girl Genius* novelizations, *Agatha H. and the Voice of the Castle* covers Vols. 7-9 of the graphic novels, plus about half of Vol. 10.
That the narrative stands well on its own, without the Foglios' hilarious artwork, is a testament to how cracking good a story *Girl Genius* is. The Profs. Foglio generally stick to a straight-up description of the comic, but here, as in the previous two novels, have included several bits of important information missing from (or u...

Coming in as the third book, especially after the Nightshade publishing debacle, I was thrilled to find that "Agatha H. and the Voice of the Castle" reads just as smoothly as the first two. In fact, it might even be a touch better edited, with improved clarity and sentence structure. For fans of Phil Foglio, this is exactly what you're looking for!

Agatha is back in another fantastic novel! It kicks off with a fresh start, even with all the books that came before, but fair warning: it ends on a total cliffhanger. Buckle up!
Agatha finally arrives in Mechanicsburg, the town that's been waiting and hoping for a new Heterodyne. Of course, there are doubters—but whipping up a coffee machine helps shut them up. And then there's a pink airship showing up with a seriously prepared imposter.
So, the story dives into Agatha learning about all the...
