This one ebbed and flowed for me between 3 stars and 4 before a bit of a banal ending that landed it in the 3 star realm.I have read several of Rollins' works and usually I really enjoy them. This one is part of the Sigma Force series which would seem to benefit from being read in order, not as I have done. Sigma Force is a collective of mercenaries, FBI types, Flying under the radar, James Bond, espionage types that basically are called upon to solve the biggest international crimes against hug...

This was made even better by my being joined by nine of my good friends from LibraryThing for the first group read that we have had in 2 long years, and what a gem we picked to start our monthly read again!! I have always loved the bonds that exists between the members of Sigma. The group is still growing with the addition of Tucker, an ex-military man and Kane, his military war dog. James Rollins always leaves some interesting questions at the end of his books, and he hasn't lessened the emotio...

Bloodline is the 8th book in the Sigma series written by James Rollins. I've read the previous books and enjoyed this one. Focused on several operatives in the secret US government agency, this tale continues exploring a discovery made in the last book -- the President's family might be behind the nefarious agency called The Guild. Could it be true? The novel kicks off when the President's pregnant daughter is kidnapped by Somalian pirates who have designs on her unborn baby. But all is not what...

★★★½This book almost made me think that this series is getting dull, but a strong second half reminded me why I enjoyed the previous books. A good dose of action and core plot gives us yet another entertaining Sigma Force novel. This is yet another day where I desperately need half-stars.It has been a year ago since I read the last book in this series. First things first, this is not your typical Sigma Force book. The books in this series so far, have their certain characteristic traits. One of t...

Real Rating: 3.5* of fiveI read this while I was in the goofy garage during 2014. My delightful friends supported my reading habit, and never once wondered (to me, that is, I have no idea what they said amongst themselves!) why I was asking for Rollins's books.I wanted to read them because they are very entertaining, have enough plot and character development to keep me distracted from being in a public mental health facility, and are intensely visually told stories with deep sci-fi roots and so...

Blood Lines By James RollinsThe best Sigma Force Writing yet! This is the latest in the Sigma Force series. To me, it’s likely the best one yet. I’ll tip my hat to the fact that there is a cadence to these books that allows some of the surprises to be “expected” in one way or another. That’s likely the case with many series that run longer than 5 or 6 books. That accepted, it’s the case here. I also had some trouble wondering why, after so many books, each book having about a year between them in...

Here is another wonderful book by an author who does make me always sit and read from cover to cover in a matter of days. (well hours really!) There is something about his books that always thrills me and makes me ever so eager to read and read and read.In this current novel, we are again thrown into the sinister world inhabited by the Sigma Force agents. All the fantastic characters are back with the addition of two new ones, a man, Tucker, and his combat trained dog, Kane. (hopefully they will...

Just finished almost an all-nighter because I simply could not put this book down. Sometimes sleep is over-rated anyway and when you find an amazing, edge of your seat, suspense thriller, you have to finish it.In Bloodline by James Rollins, you are in for an action-packed roller coaster ride from the beginning. Trying not to give away too much, this novel blends a little DaVinci Code, National Treasure, Indiana Jones, Mission Impossible and a twisted bit of Science Fiction into this one, so if y...
