Rating: 2.5/3 stars to Blood MagicFirstly I would like to say that turning down an unfamiliar path, this was a different reading practise for me seeing as it was my first kindle book using kindle app! I don’t think anything can beat the physicality of holding a book and feeling its substantial weight, making the read along with the characters feel far more palpable and accessible. I did miss that element a lot because reading off of a screen tends to reduce my indulgence, making me feel detached...

2.5 starsI read this for the Urban Fantasy square for Romance Bingo and it was also my Kindle Freebie selection. Staring at her, he said, "I'm here for you, Darcy." Urban fantasy isn't usually a sub-genre I read in and I'm not sure if that was why I had a problem getting into this one or not. It seemed like the world rules were dealt out a bit randomly, making it feel incoherent at times. There were a lot of supernatural beings with earth and demon witches, witch hunters and rogue, and ancest...

Blood Magic by Jennifer Lyon is the first book in a new Paranormal Romance series. This series has good earth witches, bad demon witches and Wing Slayers. Wing Slayers all start out as witch hunters (not a good name) who protect good witches, but if they kill any witch they turn rogue. A curse has messed up the purpose of all the characters, but Axel and Darcy are the H/h, who can break the curse and help the other earth witches and Wing Slayers find their soul mirrors. Does this not sound like ...

4 - ”I’m trying a new look called kidnapped and pissed.” Stars!Jennifer Lyon isn’t a new author to me, I have read and really enjoyed some of her contemporary /erotic romances in the past. But Blood Magic was my first foray into her PNR offerings.I am all for a sassy heroine and Darcy hit the tone perfectly for me. Vulnerable and determined make for a good mix when you take into account the woman has just discovered she’s a witch, and been taken prisoner by the and oh, so sexy Wing Slayer Hunter...

DNF @ 64%I tried. This is one of those books they were supposed to be good for me. Come on, familiar elements, magic, alpha man, great female character, sexy times…. But it was not for me.At first I thought I could really get over the fact I wasn’t enjoying the male mc and half of the book is narrated by him. He was just too much and nothing at all for me. He was way too intense without reason. I mean, yes, I know he lusted after the woman but, honestly, his I fuck her or I kill her attitude was...

**5 Witches, and Hunters, and Deamons, Oh My! Stars!!**I loved it!! This is the kind of PNR story I love. It was sensual and passionate. Laced with danger and mystery. The world building Jennifer Lyon has created is addictive. Darcy and Axel have off the charts chemistry. They are both strong and have unique powers all on their own, but together they are even more powerful. Darcy is smart and passionate. Axel is intense, but so sweet and protective. I loved how he interacted with Hannah (his lit...

Most important question is how can I get my hands on the next one? Ms. Lyon an ARC please.I wasn't sure about this book but once I got into it and realised that halfway through this book, I've already read something by this author I was throughly enjoing it. 3.5 Witch and Witch Hunter Stars. Thirty years ago, witches and witch hunters were cursed alike due to the demon witches. There souls were ripped out but they managed to gain them back but they weren't originally the souls ...

I didn’t like the causes of conflict. Some parts were a little slow, too much thinking not enough action.STORY BRIEF:Some witches wanted more power and linked with demons to get it. They became demon witches. Demon witches harmed humans, so wing slayers were created to kill the demon witches. Thirty years ago, a few demon witches cursed regular witches and wing slayers. The result was that regular witches’ powers were reduced because they could not have familiars (their animal helpers). Also, wi...

I struggled hard with just how to rate "Blood Magic" by Jennifer Lyon. On the plus side, she managed to come up with a new twist on witches using a fusion of mythology, lore, and witchcraft. On the minus side, the writing wasn't as tight as I like and the story seemed to 'hop and jump' for me. So I decided to round up in the hope that the next in this series, which I DO intend to read, will sharpen and smooth out some of the rough edges I found here.Darcy has just buried her adoptive mother when...
