Seeing this pop up over and over on my feed and most of my friends loving it, I had to read this. Unfortunately this wasn't a win for me. The author does warn that this isn't a complex, plot-driven fantasy and I was fine with that. She does a great job of introducing the key components of the world and includes a map. The idea for the plot was cute but the execution was so bad. Rennick was not only morally black- but a literal psychopath. Amelia had no personality and was in an emotionally abusive relationship without being aware since she had no other relationships at all in her life.
