This is my story, a ten-year odyssey sparked by wanderlust. I traded a few months' escape for a life-altering journey across 60+ countries and every continent. From scaling Everest to exploring ancient ruins, I witnessed humanity's best and worst, felt the sting of heartbreak and the thrill of love....

What the hell is up with all these reviews and what's with all the hype? Saying that *The World at Large: A Decade of Discovery* is the most overrated book I've ever read almost feels like an understatement. Adam E. Mehaffey's writing style is childish for the most part, abusing conversational tag lines like "I guess you could say" to a ridiculous extent. It barely even feels like a real travel book; most of it is about bar jobs in Britain, and he only takes a couple of weeks off to travel here ...

Inspiring and beautifully written story. I love traveling, and it takes a lot of courage to leave everything behind and just travel the world at a young age.
Adam E. Mehaffey made the dream of going on a long adventure more attainable for me. This is a great read for anyone interested in travel memoirs.
I think the second book should be even more interesting since he will be traveling around Asia, starting from Cambodia. "The World at Large: A Decade of Discovery" is a captivating read!

I picked up "The World at Large: A Decade of Discovery" to fuel my current obsession with travel memoirs.
Things I loved about this book:
- Mehaffey's exploration of the Kibbutz was fascinating.
- The conversations with Ali Jeddah were incredibly insightful.
- His perspective on Middle Eastern countries felt fresh and thought-provoking.
Things that didn't quite click for me:
- I often found myself disagreeing with Adam E. Mehaffey's personality and some of his life decisions.
- A signi...

This was just awful... I'm baffled by all the rave reviews. Adam E. Mehaffey's writing style in *The World at Large: A Decade of Discovery* was mostly dull, and the story felt like it was going nowhere. It wasn't even remotely inspiring or motivational. Definitely not one of the best new book releases I've read lately.

This book was pretty good. The writing style isn't what one would immediately expect, and I liked that. In my opinion, it helped the reader feel closer to the writer, in a sense. It was enjoyable.
As a book review recipient from GoodReads First Reads, I highly recommend Adam E. Mehaffey's *The World at Large: A Decade of Discovery* for readers looking for an engaging and unique travelogue.

I really enjoyed the writing style of "The World at Large: A Decade of Discovery." It felt like I was right there with Adam E. Mehaffey, experiencing everything alongside him and really feeling the emotions of each moment. I'm definitely looking forward to book two and hoping for even more adventures, maybe with a bit less of the 'routine' style storytelling—even though those moments clearly shaped the writer he is today. For anyone looking for compelling travel memoirs, I'd recommend checking t...

A fabulous first installment of Adam E. Mehaffey's world tour story. His writing style is engaging, unique, and refreshingly direct.
I dare say, having had the pleasure of knowing Adam (the author) during this... *wild* period of his life, he's done a brilliant job conveying a unique and wonderful insight into his life, travels, and experiences in "The World at Large: A Decade of Discovery". It’s a must-read, I think.
So looking forward to the next book in the series. Hopefully with some of th...

"...ravished my mind and transported me..."A truly mind-gripping experience unlike anything I've ever read. *The World at Large: A Decade of Discovery* has given me a completely new perspective on the incredible diversity that can shape a life. The story utterly captivated me, transporting me into Adam E. Mehaffey's world in such a way that I felt deeply connected. It was as if I could relate to, feel, understand, and truly experience everything unfolding on each page. The writing, the plot—ever...
