“Why are these guys chasing me?” I finally asked him. No-name turned his head and squinted his eyes at me. Almost like he had expected a more personal question. He opened his mouth to say something, then closed it again. A quiet chuckle escaped his throat. "You have no idea what you are."― Shay Lynam, The Tree House I try to express only my most honest opinion in a spoiler free way. If you feel anything in my review is a spoiler and is not already hidden in spoiler brackets please let me know...

**** 4.5 Cranky Stars **** Shay Lynam's *The Tree House*, a YA contemporary novel, grabs you from the first page and doesn't let go. We're thrown right into the action with Hailey, our main character, facing down gunmen for reasons we don't yet understand. She's on the run, her life in danger. Her family is in danger. Her brother is missing, and everything she thought she knew about her life is a complete fabrication. The answers, and maybe even safety, lie in Seattle at the titular *The Tree Ho...

"The Tree House" isn't quite what you expect. And Hailey, the young woman at the heart of the story, is full of surprises herself. From the get-go, the book throws you right into the action: Hailey's forced to flee in Seattle when gunmen come after her. Without spoiling too much, I have to say I was hooked by the clever blend of scientific intrigue and thrilling suspense. The length felt perfect for telling the story fully, though I wouldn't have minded seeing some of the supporting characters d...

3.5 Stars, rounded up to 4 for sheer creativity! > Hailey is your average twenty-year-old college student, living an average life. Or so she thought. When a past she never knew existed comes to light, the reality she thought she knew is shattered, and she's left alone to pick up the pieces. Who knew this world held such evil? And who is this strange, obscure boy who seems to know more than he's letting on? > And what can one girl do when a fight to stay alive turns into a fight to avenge and p...

I received a copy of "The Tree House" by Shay Lynam from the author via International YA Book Club for Girls in exchange for an honest review. After finishing "The Tree House," I really had to wrestle with how I felt about it. I was planning on giving it 3 stars throughout most of my reading. But in the end, I went with 4. The beginning was a little odd for me. Hailey's house is broken into. Her parents are either killed or abducted. She escapes and flees her hometown, thinking she'll find safe...

This book grabbed me from page one and didn't let go! Seriously, I had a tough time putting "The Tree House" down. It's fresh, it's unique, and Shay Lynam's writing is just stunning. She had my complete attention from start to finish. I fell in love with every character she introduced. The plot twists were fantastic, adding layers of excitement – and sometimes a little heartbreak – to the story. And the romance? Perfectly balanced, beautifully written. I'm already counting down the days until Sh...
