A New York Times Bestseller, Oprah's Book Club Pick, and a TIME Best Book of the Year, "The Tell" is an astonishing memoir about self-preservation and the healing power of sharing our stories. In *The Tell: A Memoir*, Amy Griffin recounts her experience with a repressed childhood memory. For most of her life, she's been chasing perfection, constantly running and keeping busy. After a comment from her daughter, she decides to undergo MDMA therapy, spurred on by her husband's rave reviews of his own incredible experience. During her therapy, she uncovers buried trauma, and *The Tell: A Memoir* documents her journey through healing and processing.
While I did read *The Body Keeps the Sc...

I'm honestly baffled by all the hype and praise surrounding Amy Griffin's *The Tell: A Memoir*. Once I got about 30% of the way through, I just wanted it to be over. I was disappointed by so much in this book, but mainly by the narrator, who came across as completely self-absorbed. She seemed to be constantly focused on her "perfect" life, judging everyone around her while simultaneously trying to grapple with her past trauma. Don't get me wrong, I truly sympathize with what Amy Griffin went thr...

I believe women. My issue with this story isn’t about questioning Amy Griffin's memory or the abuse she describes in "The Tell: A Memoir." My problem is that she comes across as utterly insufferable. She dedicates so much time to telling us how perfect she was – perfect body, perfect hair, perfect at sports and business. Then we’re subjected to entire chapters about how incredibly nice she was to loan someone a dress, and then she wonders aloud why that even matters, exclaiming, "I can’t believe...

I'm landing on three stars, I think. My issues with **The Tell: A Memoir** largely stem from its presentation at a book talk and Q&A I attended with Amy Griffin. It felt like a gathering of wealthy white women patting themselves on the back for being the most important voices to ever discuss sexual abuse, proclaiming this book would change lives because sharing abuse stories is supposedly groundbreaking. As if no one has ever spoken up about abuse before? The whole thing was a cringeworthy displ...

Content warnings apply // Absolutely heartbreaking to listen to someone recount their childhood trauma, but thank you for sharing your story with the world, Amy Griffin! *The Tell: A Memoir* is a powerful and moving read. Highly recommend for those interested in memoir book reviews.

Amy Griffin's *The Tell: A Memoir* is a standout non-fiction book that tackles so many important issues. It's a brave account of how repressed memories can impact our daily lives, and it follows Amy's personal journey through healing. If you're looking for insightful **book reviews**, this is one to consider.
*The Tell: A Memoir* explores the damaging effects of conservative Southern culture and the immense pressure it places on women to maintain a facade of perfection. Griffin also delves into...

It's strange that the audiobook of *The Tell: A Memoir* doesn't mention whether "Mr. Mason" is a pseudonym. Leaving that out feels odd, especially if the intention is to protect his privacy after everything that happened. Like many others have pointed out, the book lacks closure or a clear call to action. I'm left with so many questions. Amy Griffin's press tours and interviews only add to the confusion. We're talking about a billionaire who seemingly can't turn over every stone to help victims?...

I had a tough time with this one. Maybe it's because I absolutely adore *The Glass Castle*, another memoir in the same vein, but I found myself skimming parts of *The Tell: A Memoir*. Despite all the buzz, it just didn't grab me or pull me in the way I thought it would. Amy Griffin's story is interesting, but as far as compelling book reviews go, this one just didn't quite hit the mark for me.

This book, "The Tell: A Memoir" by Amy Griffin, was such a well-written page-turner! I just really wish her story had been corroborated by other people who had witnessed something or had also been abused by the same person. Unfortunately, the only proof she had, outside of her own reflections, was sent anonymously. I don’t believe an abuser of this magnitude only abuses once, so if no one else comes forward after the release of "The Tell: A Memoir", it will remind me of another of Oprah’s book c...

In *The Tell: A Memoir*, Amy Griffin welcomes readers into her deeply personal journey of acknowledging and navigating the trauma and grief stemming from her childhood sexual abuse, perpetrated by someone she trusted. Plagued by exhaustion, depletion, a persistent sense of emptiness, and a constant state of alert without knowing why, the adult Griffin seeks psychedelic-assisted therapy. This path unlocks long-repressed memories, buried and sealed away for years, bringing them to the surface. Thi...
