I recently heard a female reporter who sounded genuinely shocked describing how schoolboys, maybe 11 or 12 years old, on a bus were using an app to upload a picture of a girl they knew from school, grabbed from her Instagram account, and turning it into whatever kind of porn they wanted. "It’s so funny!" the boys howled with laughter. And they did the female teachers too, naturally. So, Laura Bates's *The New Age of Sexism: How Technology Amplifies Inequality* is about how AI has added a powerfu...

Get men off this planet. Seriously, after reading Laura Bates' "The New Age of Sexism: How Technology Amplifies Inequality," you might feel the same way. This isn't just a book; it's a searing indictment of the digital cesspool where misogyny thrives. Bates meticulously dissects how technology, far from being a gender-neutral tool, actively amplifies inequality and reinforces harmful stereotypes. If you're looking for insightful book reviews that tackle modern issues head-on, this is it. "The N...

Laura Bates clearly set out to make readers furious with this book, and she absolutely succeeded for me. You can feel Bates' own simmering rage in every sentence, which makes it both compelling and impossible to look away from. The New Age of Sexism: How Technology Amplifies Inequality is a stark warning about how emerging tech *is* being used to fuel misogyny and harm women. It's also a call to action, urging governments to enact protective laws *before* disaster strikes. Bates takes us on a de...

DNF @ p78Pre-Read Notes:As a woman pursuing a career in data science, I am immensely interested in reading a well-researched account of sexism in the new age of AI. I anticipate this to be a bracing and challenging read and that I will take away from it much of value.*I’m still making my way through this, but I need to note something. As a feminist, I came into this book hoping for clarity and insight — but instead, I’m finding fear. Laura Bates, the author of *The New Age of Sexism: How Technol...

Absolutely terrifying. How Laura Bates delves so deep into this subject matter and manages to keep functioning is honestly beyond me – I admire her so much. If you're looking for insightful book reviews, especially on gender issues, Bates is a must-read.I'll admit that I wasn't able to get past the first pages of Men Who Hate Women because I found it so frightening, so I was determined to see The New Age of Sexism: How Technology Amplifies Inequality through to the end, and even though I had to ...

Four stars because I'm afraid. That's honestly the most accurate review I can give for Laura Bates's "The New Age of Sexism: How Technology Amplifies Inequality". It's a deeply unsettling read, not because of sensationalism or hyperbole, but because of its stark, unflinching portrayal of the online world many women navigate daily. Bates lays bare the insidious ways technology, from social media algorithms to the very design of online platforms, perpetuates and amplifies sexism. This isn't just ...

This isn’t the first book by Laura Bates that I've read, and it definitely won’t be the last. As much as I’ve enjoyed every one of her books (and see value in all of them), *Men Who Hate Women* was my absolute favorite. It's increasingly hard to find books about feminism nowadays that actually talk about feminism. It might sound crazy, but the majority of those books read more like self-help to me than a feminist work. I could admit some are a good read for beginners when it comes to this topic,...
