I'm not really one for journaling. I love the *idea* of it, and to be fair, I did have a LiveJournal way back when. But I don't think that counts. Every time I've tried to get into actual, physical journaling, it just feels forced. Plus, I hated the thought of someone finding and reading what I'd written. This book helps with that fear, suggesting you can even destroy the pages when you're done. It's the act of writing itself that's supposed to be cathartic. I decided to read **The Alchemy of Jo...

I absolutely loved Jaouad's first book, so I had really high hopes for "The Alchemy of Journaling: A Guide to Creative Transformation". Honestly, I think I would've gotten a lot more out of it if I'd actually been journaling while listening to the audiobook. There were some incredibly beautiful passages and thought-provoking writing prompts, but I just didn't connect with this one the way I was hoping to. It's a great resource for anyone looking for journaling prompts and inspiration, but as a s...

Suleika Jaouad's *The Alchemy of Journaling: A Guide to Creative Transformation* is a magical book about writing. Jaouad's book certainly benefits from the standard "write about what you know" advice offered by most books on the topic, but this merely gets the book in motion. Jaouad's writing career started with writing a newspaper column about her life with cancer. Drawing on that writing experience, she wrote a book, taught writing, and now has written this one. It includes personal experience...

Suleika Jaouad is the kind of person I'd love to be friends with, and her personality absolutely shines through in this collection of 100 writing prompts. They're structured around 10 core themes: Beginning, memory, fear, seeing, love, the body, rebuilding, ego, purpose, and alchemy. Suleika Jaouad was first diagnosed with leukemia in 2011, and heartbreakingly, the cancer has returned twice since. If you haven't already, you really should watch "American Symphony", the award-winning documentary ...

In a world increasingly defined by digital distraction and constant noise, *The Alchemy of Journaling: A Guide to Creative Transformation* offers a radical proposition: return to the page, to the physical act of writing by hand, to the intimate dance between pen and paper. Suleika Jaouad's latest work isn't merely a book about journaling—it's a profound meditation on how we can transform our most challenging experiences into something precious through the alchemical process of creative expressio...

I went in thinking this was a book to kickstart my journaling habit. It's so not that. It's way more. "The Alchemy of Journaling: A Guide to Creative Transformation" is a gorgeous collection of short essays on creativity, penned by a hundred different people, from well-known authors to Suleika Jaouad's own friends. Jaouad masterfully weaves it all together with her own reflections on a life shadowed by a decades-long dance with cancer. If you are looking for insightful book reviews on journaling...

For journal lovers and aspiring journalers alike...Whether you're already familiar with Suleika Jaouad's Substack newsletter, "Isolation Journals," or not, you're in for a real treat with this book, **The Alchemy of Journaling: A Guide to Creative Transformation**. Born from Jaouad's passion for journaling and documentation, The Isolation Journals took shape in 2020 during the peak of the pandemic, when she initiated communal journaling, inviting others to participate. Each "journal" entry—or es...

What even *is* the name of this book?! The title screams "The Alchemy of Journaling: A Guide to Creative Transformation," but the review makes it sound like "The Book of Prompts." Seriously, talk about confusing branding. If you're looking for Suleika Jaouad's *The Alchemy of Journaling: A Guide to Creative Transformation* review, make sure you know what you're actually getting!
