‘Replaceable You: Adventures in Human Anatomy’ by Mary Roach is an absolute delight! If you've enjoyed a science book by Roach before, I can assure you this is another incredibly cool and lovable read! She expertly blends deeply researched science topics—in this case, how scientists are seeking materials that the body won't reject to fix cloudy eye lenses, male-pattern baldness, misbehaving intestines, missing limbs, and a host of other bodily woes—never shying away from the sometimes-gruesome r...

In my opinion, *Replaceable You: Adventures in Human Anatomy* by Mary Roach is a slightly less entertaining book compared to her others. She still revels in the oddities of her chosen subject, but there seem to be fewer opportunities for it this time around. I was pleased to learn that Roach has a friend, Steph, who seems willing to drop everything and fly to Tbilisi to interview a surgeon who used a cancer patient's finger to replace his penis. Steph makes smart-aleck comments just like Mary. E...

This is the first time Mary Roach's humor in Replaceable You: Adventures in Human Anatomy just fell flat for me and felt out of place. As far as science book reviews go, I usually find her wit spot-on, but not this time.

Mary Roach, ever the inquisitive explorer, now sets her sights on replaceable body parts in *Replaceable You: Adventures in Human Anatomy*. From prosthetic limbs to the tantalizing promise of 3D-printed organs, Roach's infectious enthusiasm and sharp wit transform this already engrossing subject into something truly captivating. The chapter on skin grafting did make me feel a tad queasy, so maybe pick another book for your lunch break! If you're looking for fascinating **non-fiction book reviews...

Replaceable You: Adventures in Human Anatomy is the latest nonfiction offering from Mary Roach. Organized by body parts, it's a fascinating blend of cutting-edge medical procedures and historical context. I absolutely loved this book. Mary Roach has a knack for writing incredibly funny nonfiction. If you've ever wondered how your body parts, from major organs like legs and hearts to the smallest things like hair or tears, or even just a collection of cells, can be replaced to save your life or b...

The human body is an incredibly complex machine, and efforts to emulate it enough to replace parts of it are, at the very least, difficult, if not impossible. This is classic Mary Roach, but with a bit more complicated science thrown in. A fascinating read for anyone interested in anatomy or medical science!

Thank you to W. W. Norton & Company for providing this ARC for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own. Replaceable You: Adventures in Human Anatomy is a nonfiction pop-science exploration into the science and culture of body part replacement. From iron lungs to butt implants, Mary Roach lifts the curtain on the most mundane and most scientifically advanced replacement parts medicine has to offer. If you're looking for engaging science writing, this is a must-read!Roach a...

I absolutely adore Mary Roach—I'll happily learn anything she wants to teach us. This time around, it's all about how doctors and scientists are using artificial body parts as replacements when the originals fail or get damaged beyond repair. Sure, *Replaceable You: Adventures in Human Anatomy* is technically a science book, but, like all of Roach's books, you could just as easily find it in the humor section. I learned, among other things, that the doctor she was trying to reach in one chapter ...

Replaceable You: Adventures in Human Anatomy – A Masterclass in Scientific Curiosity with HeartRating: 4.8/5Mary Roach’s Replaceable You: Adventures in Human Anatomy is a triumph of science writing that marries razor-sharp inquiry with disarming humour, taking readers on a wild ride through the frontiers of human body engineering. As someone who devours popular science but often struggles with clinical detachment, I found Roach’s blend of empathy and wit utterly captivating—like having a brillia...
