A nicely written, easily readable space opera. This novella has a brilliant concept (so much so that once I found it I couldn't stop thinking about it until I read it) and combined elements of sci-fi that I thoroughly enjoy: space opera, time travel, and dystopia. Scott McElhaney's *Maelstrom* is a gripping read, and a great example of modern science fiction.

Time travel space opera
3.85 stars - I love that "Maelstrom" has a blend of space opera, time travel, and future dystopian elements. Scott McElhaney's premise is fascinating. I did wish the story was a bit longer, allowing more time for character development and exploration of how they confirm the end-of-the-world information. That extra time would let them plan more effectively. If you're looking for exciting book reviews involving time travel, give "Maelstrom" a try!

Scott McElhaney's *Maelstrom* is a fantastic time travel adventure about two women tasked with hijacking an alien spacecraft and rescuing abductees. But they quickly realize the ship isn't alien at all, and their mission dramatically shifts – now they have to save the world! What I really enjoyed was Hunter's initial reluctance and how seamlessly she rises to the challenge. If you're looking for a thrilling science fiction book review, definitely check out *Maelstrom*.
